Time to shoot the "hate" thread in the friggin' head already and start up another Land thread, so people - what's your favourite gore scene ... and I guess, what's you're least favourite gore scene?

Favourite: Hand-in-throat / Grenade guts
Least favourite: A couple of the CGI head shots that really look like CGI ... and yet I still like the Preacher, it's a good gag, a puppet would have probably looked worse, so says Nicotero anyway.

Come on people, feeeeed on the tasty new thread flesh!

Hand-in-throat and the guy getting his face peeled off were my favorites.

Belly Button Piercing Chew was my least.

Yeah, the guy getting his face ripped off. Otherwise, I like the eerie shot of Brubaker gnawing on his own stump. I think that sums up the zombie condition perfectly.

I think the best effect was the cheerleader getting blasted in the head as Dead Reckoning first pulls into Uniontown. It is one of the first effects in the movie and it sets the splatter tone.

The worst would have to be the grenade blowing the dude up. The idea is A+ but the delivery was C-.

Oh yeh, the face getting ripped off was friggin' classic I have to say.

the arm splitting scene made me cringe a lil

i think the naval bite was more for laughs than gore, at least that's what i'm hoping

i mean, of all the places that chick could have been bit, why bite there?

I duno, but what is it with all these girls and belly button piercings, it's everywhere - especially in the porn industry. How do I know? Because I watch copious amounts of porn...

I think it's great that GAR has fun with his movies and throws in some good laughs - it's not an obvious laugh, like the nod & wink to camera Hack Snyder type people do. It's the sort of humour that the audience laughs at simultaneously because it's just a funny, innocent gag, which isn't even really a gag.

I'm not even sure I understood myself there...

I'd have bitten her there :sneaky:

Ya, it HAD to be for "laughs" - more "social commentary" - like, oh,.....EVERY skinny chicka with a sexy tummy has GOT to have one these days, right? I mean, it has become an International law that once you turn 15 or 16 you MUST pierce the naval or you're not socially accepted! :)

OH, I agree 100% - When the cheerleader got it, I knew I was in for a treat - The greneade scene looked like it was filmed in the 70's and edited into the flick. LOL All the smoke and sparks had me rolling!

Best - The death of Mouse

Worst - When Cholo kills the Liqour store zombie with a bolt. Nice, but a little on the "too CGI" side.

Favorite: The hand down the throat and face peeling scene, too hard to just choose one. Also love the bite to the young kid's forearm by the cop zombie.

Least: A lil hard to think of one. Perhaps anything that looked a lill too CGI, like the Priest Zombie, but yet, as cheesy as that looked....I loved it!:sneaky:

Favourite: The soldier getting his hand cut off whilst holding the grenade, and then falling onto it...boom.

Least Favourite: When the zombies are making their full bore attack in the city near the end, there are some quick shots of a guy getting ripped in half. It ticked me off because you didn't see much, and the guys reactions were a little cornball.

But whatever, it's just a movie, and it was all pretty damn entertaining.

Yeah, the guy getting his face ripped off.

I second this. This was the best gore scene in the movie. Watching that guy get his face pulled off was one of the better FX in the film. Still hate the movie though. :D

Favorite: The entire "feasting scene" in the dark weapons room.(I believe it was the room with ammo:confused: ). I feel like that was Nicotero's baby. Not only are the effects spot on(the tongue ripped out, digging into the soldiers back, etc.) but the feeling that the viewer gets from that scene is great.

Least Favorite: The belly button ring gag. Doesn't make much sense. With a whole body at his fingertips, why would the zombie bite only a small ring and rip it out? I guess it was just some gag made up on the spot....

I couldn't have said it better myself - and the best part of that feasting scene was the hand-in-throat zombie pulling out the dead dudes tongue.

The one effect I thought was a completely original idea was fliptop, but the CGI messed up the scene. His head is too large for the body, and it just came off goofy - but the "concept" of the scene was awesome. :D

I agree. Great idea....just needed to be executed differently.

I think with some clever editing and camera positions they could have pulled it off with Nicotero's prop. Time may have been a factor, though.

Ya....When Brubaker comes into the light chewing on the leg....CLASSIC!
And the "hand pull" scene....I see it as the zed pulling the guts and lungs out of the mouth - whatever it's pulling out,....I love it!
That entire scene is one of the best "zombie feast" scenes ever filmed! You can almost smell the death.

The fliptop was a good gag too bad CG was used but I understand. The cheerleader is the best. Unfortunately with a big Hollywood studio being involved the gore was not as good as the other dead films.:D

Hand down the throat by far. At first you are grossed out and then you start to giggle...it's amazing!

Well when the arm got ripped in half, you could hear it crunch very loudly in the theater and was very creepy.

That scene was pretty cheesy (reminds me of pulling a wishbone), but,....I felt my own arm rip as I watched it the theater the first time, so,....it was quite effective :D

I think the wishbone effect was purposful, and I bet they were both wishing for..."BRAINS!"

eh eh... Sorry had to.

Also, it's great that they let him show those shots in theaters :)
