Night of the Living Dead: Origins in 3-D (http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2009/09/night-of-the-living-dead-remake-3d-cgi-origin-story.html)

http://reporter.blogs.com/.a/6a00d83451d69069e20120a5c9538b970c-800wi

It's a remake, it's CGI, it's anime, it's 3-D. Seems like they don't actually know what it should be... except for pretty bad based on the promo image. I would never personally trust anyone named "Zeb."

Is Night of the Living Dead doomed to simply be rehash fodder for every wannabe film director? :annoyed:

certainly seems so doesn't it.

i really wish they'd all just stop, please. put down the camera. tear up the script. attempt to do something original and hop down off of the cliche train.

by the way are these people for real? zebediah de soto and jib polhemus.

De Soto was a fan of the original “Living Dead” and once the trio realized the rights were in the public domain, zeroed in on that project.

what an "awesome" reason to shoot a movie.

I guess this is what happen when a popular film is in the public domain...

huh.
You know what's funny? I've always thought that "Con Air" was directed by Michael Bay. Learn something new every day!

Heeeyyyyy.......I resemble that remark...:moon:

It's different when it's a live performance, right?

Because then it's Art.

Upon thinking more on this...I HATE anime. That is not a way to get my interest in it.

No brother billy - what you and you troupe did was way cool. This particular product just seems a ripoff and exploitive to me.

Admittedly, I have not seen this project yet, so I should reserve my judgement, but I supect that DeSoto et al might give Zack Snyder some competition in the "who is the bigger hack" competition.

Oh Lordy...

Danielle Harris has "tweeted" that she'll be playing the role of Barbara in this travesty against good taste and decency.

Anyone else notice this dubious pattern? It's the same stable of piss-poor "actors" starring in all the name-rape remakes over and over and over and over.

Die, Die DIE already!

agreed. that was very cool and was an original spin & fun on the movie.

still, there ought to be a 100 year moratorium on remakes of night.

What (http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=18696)? Joe Pilato has joined the cast? So has Danielle Harris(Halloween).

Pilato as Cooper? Actually that sounds quite fucking interesting.

Why do these movies continue to suck within the genre?

Because these people just don't get it. Zombies alone do not a movie make. They're basically just fodder. "OOh look how scary they are." "Look how much gore we can put on the screen."

What's scarier to me is what the situation of the dead rising has done to us humans and the chaos that ensues because of that.

No matter what one might say about GAr he is the "master" because seemingly only he has been able to pull this off. How did he do it you might ask? By using the ghouls as a vehicle to employ his satirical purposes not as the focus of the story. The trilogy unfolds in such a way that you could concievably substitute the zombie plauge for any other high magnitude disaster and still have virtually the same story of humans at each others throats when they really should be pulling together.

Note to hack film makers: You really should be writing this down. Because imo, GAr isn't going to be around forever and whoever masters that will be the new king. Atleast to me.

Small Danielle Harris Interview (http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=19417)

Joe Pilato, Danielle Harris, Mos Def, and Bill Mosley? Even though I'm pretty much against this thing....I've got to admit that the cast is pretty badass.:stunned:

"It's a prequel, it's current times, it takes place in New York City, and it's pretty insane."

to quote that old pace picante salsa commercial:

"New York City?"

http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/16/gaydar.jpg (http://www.threadbombing.com/details.php?image_id=4303)

fucking ghey...i may end up checking this out when it hits theaters, but that little tidbit of info just lowered the small level of interest i had in this project dramatically.

while i think it's still cool that pilato is involved, and that makes me somewhat optimistic, part of the charm and magic of the original was the rural pennsylvania setting. now they're talking about the NYC as a setting...in modern day....that's not at all what i had in mind when i first heard about this film.:annoyed:

they should just go ahead and change the title and characters' names since they're already pissing all over the original. fucking name-rape at its worst.:|

Ok, haven't heard of this one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1512222/)...so its animated, in 3D, with Bill Mosely (as Johnny, again, same part as 1990 Savini directed remake), Joe Pilato (as Harry Cooper, no less) and Danielle Harris (as Barbara, who apparently aged 20 years in this version). How'd I miss this?

According to Mosely from Shock Till You Drop (http://shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=13922), "First of all, it’s set in New York City, so it ends up following the story (of the original) but at the same time placing it instead of rural Pennsylvania, right in the middle of town. I think what’s really cool about it is because it’s the animated process, you can really do things for the story elements that would normally cost a lot of money, like actually shooting in New York. Zebediah’s a really cool guy, he’s got a cool vision so I’m really excited to be a part of that."

How'd I miss this?

Tony Todd is back as Ben (http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/35842/exclusive-first-look-tony-todd-ben-night-living-dead-origins). Apparently Mos Def dropped out and Todd took over the role he played in Night90.

I wanted to make this look like a living Monet; it's expressionism," de Soto said in an earlier interview. "It's going to be the first zombie movie played on a epic scale. This is the 'Empire of the Sun' of zombie films ... I lived through the L.A. riots and saw the city on fire; I remember seeing people running, people getting pulled out of cars. And with 9/11, these images have been ingrained on people of my generation. I just thought that is the way it would really be, a lot of chaos.

i was about to ask who the fuck is danielle harris but now i remember she played the little kid in the later halloween movies. pfft on her. she's done a bunch of shit tv shows and mostly crap ass movies - scratch that, they all look like shit.

as for this movie, i'm not interested. it sounds like garbage whipped up to "cash in" on the whole 3D shite fad. though i don't know how much cashing in they makers of this flick will do, since about only 23 people will see it.

One thing I've been wondering about... why's it called Origins? It doesn't sound like a prequel by any stretch of the imagination. This means it's probably either going to concentrate on the origins of the plague (sounds like a needless distraction from the essential human drama of the story), or it's just a meaningless snappy suffix they slapped on the end to sound important and vaguely artistic, you know the sort of thing: "requiem", "gaiden", "vengeance", "x", etc.

Either that or it's one of those bastard offspring that seem to be popping up everywhere this past ten years or so: "the first in a planned trilogy".

I know I come across as pretty negative here, but I DO want this film to be good, if for no other reason than I think most of that cast are awesome but unlucky one-or-two hit wonders who deserve another big break to boost their batting averages in the fickle eyes of the Hollywood machine.

I have high hopes for the movie, but NOT high expectations. The two don't always go hand in hand unfortunately.
