Why do I all of a sudden think of Platinum Dunes?

Was never a big fan of the original, anyway. Except for Fred Gwynne.

The story has the potential to be a great film, as do most of kings books, but they always get done badly, hopefully they wont make a mess of this one!

Eh, I wouldn't say "Always" -- just the vast majority of the time. Most Stephen King movies suck, yes, but there are the few rare exceptions -- namely Frank Darabont. "The Shawshank Redemption", "The Green Mile", and "The Mist" were all done by Darabont and were all based on King's work. I think all of these films are excellent as well. I'm also partial to Mick Garris's "The Stand" as well even though only so much of the 1,300 page book can be captured in the 4-part miniseries of it ('Baby, can you dig your man?'). And, of course, we'd all be remiss without including Kubrick's "The Shining" which is just messed up but a classic.

Hmm... I wonder what the issue is with bringing King's otherwise mostly good works to the screen and the fact that they aren't generally all that good as films at all (with a few exceptions). Hmm... is there a Stephen King film curse perhaps? :sneaky:
