ok one question, when the main cop awakens and gets downtown.....and then finds the others and joins them, why was no attempt made to secure at least another building in the city after they had been in the wilderness? they had the guns ammo and more importantly the people.

i was looking through the previous episodes and saw there was alot of heavy machinery laying around which would make them able to literally block off an entire street and or intersection so they could hole up in a high rise or department store. the tank alone ( even if no one could drive it) could still be fired and could do quite a bit of damage to clear zombies.

remember, construction sites equal welding torches amongst other things u could use to secure the front doors of a building. the department store had a FULL KITCHEN for cryin out loud.

because thats how the comic goes and its a comic about people, not a survivalists adventure romp. If you going into it expecting "me against the world with great thing falling into my lap" survival fetish gun porn this will not be a series for you because very little of that happens. Honestly theres lots of people who praised it as the second coming at episode 1, but like i said on here after it aired, knowing the direction of the story a lot of you wont like were its going and will probably just stick with it because its a zombie tv show but doesnt have the 'put yourself in there shoes' prefect survival without society, gun totin' apocalyptic cowboy type stuff that a lot of you seem to want-not just in this show but as an exclusive choice list for protagonists in any story in this horror sub genre and you wont get it here unless its drastically changed.
That said in the comics they spend one, maybe 2 issues in atlanta and then they never visit anything bigger than a small village or suburb again. so lets see if they DO stick with it.
but like i said before, those of you who watch zombie movies or whatever expecting the "logical" survival things to occur arent gonna get any of that and i dont expect a lot of people on here to watch it past the first season.

There's a big procedure to go through to make the tanks cannon fire. The shells are very heavy and you have to stick your whole arm in the breach. The loading compartment is like 5ftx5ft and crammed with control panels. So when it fires you can't be behind the breach block because it slams back a couple feet into that cramped compartment. Even if you figured that out immediately, the main canon moves slowly and is can't be fired at things that close.

Yes!! this!! The Walking Dead is about people, and relationships, and normal people's decisions. That is what all good zombie movies are about. I can honestly say I've never seen a zombie movie pander to the survivalist. . .and I am ok with that.

Because the last thing you would want to do is remain in a major metro... That's kind of the reason they go to the wilderness.

Because the last thing you would want to do is remain in a major metro... That's kind of the reason they go to the wilderness. Indeed. And for that reason it felt a little awkward that they were able to get around the city as easily as they did.
