those may be non-specific ones from the comics. the article mentioned that there will be two sets released, one set from the comics and one set from the show.

and i'm anxiously awaiting for images of the rick figures, that's probably one for the nerd shrine.

Just saw some Toy Fair pics over at Spawn.com and the zombies are interchangable apparently. Pictured was Todd McFarlane holding the above zombie figure in the cut off t-shirt and seperating it at the seam where the flesh meets the shirt revealing a nice half zombie complete with grousome entrails exposed. Also shown in the background (poorrly) were the unpainted Michonne and painted Rick figs. I'm sure better pics will show up in the next day or so. Oh, they also have packaging mock-ups that, sadly, aren't that impressive.

I'm only KIND OF an action figure guy but I'm still not sure if I can answer your question better than; I think they will be available in the UK. I would recommend checking out http://www.spawn.com/ to see if you can find out on the message boards if McFarlane stuff can typically be found across the pond. McFarlane does the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, Spawn, and Halo figures that are all widely available here in the lower 48 but I don't know about other countries. Snoop around over there a bit and see if any of that stuff is available in the UK. Or you can just make a deal with a friend here in the states to buy and ship to ya. Wish I could be of more help man. Good luck!

Todd McFarlane discusses the figures, how each of them have specific movements, and how the actor's faces were scanned for the best possible sculpt.

I purchased the comic version of Rick on my way back from Morgantown last week..honestly, the best part of the figure is the accessories. His big bag o' guns..the sculpt is alright, but the paint apps are TERRIBLE..there are lots of misplaced dollops of paint on the buttons of the coat, his face is rouged out like you wouldn't believe and his eyes are just..crazy..as for the articulation, yeah, it's there, but it's not usable..the figure was sculped as you've seen and it seems like they just threw the articulation at it just to be able to advertise it on the front of the card..very very underwhelmed. I almost got Michonne instead, but I just wanted the bag of guns in case a later one comes out..the guns themselves are nice overall, however they have ejection ports on both sides, and several misplaced paint cues again. The fake wood-grain is pulled off quite nice on my copy though..he comes with a pistol, looks like a 1911 or clone and his hatchet..I passed on the one with better eyes because the rouge on the cheeks was just sooo terrible.

However, I will say that the quality of plastic is just tops, the joints on the shoulders, elbows and legs have ratchets to aid in holding a pose. However, that left leg is just killing me..you can futz around with it a bit, but it never looks quite right, nor does the way he looks left..

I do plan on working on the arms a bit, around the shoulders and elbows, to try and extract a little more movement from the sculpt. In this day and age, you should be able to buy a figure with a great sculpt and great poseability, but it seems like Mcfarlane is just satisfied to coast along on past merits (especially with their Halo series, though that one too is going downhill fast).

I shouldn't have to drop 20.00 on this thing only to have to fix it's problems myself. I would have loved to have seen NECA get this line, with what they've done with the Assassins Creed and it's other videogame properties, they could have really knocked these things out of the park. As it is now, they're not big enough to pose with any other series like that, but they're just a little over the size of GI JOE and the Star Wars line.

I dunno..I honestly wouldn't be so hard on this line if I didn't want so much for it to succeed. But I have the feeling that Mcfarlane was able to lowball it, considering who he is and the relationship he has with Kirkman. It's a real shame, I hope the next batch come out better.

If anybody is interested, I can provide a few pictures of my guy.

That's not so bad, imo. About the quality you would expect for a 15-20 dollar figure. But man I would KILL to get a Hot Toys figure from TWD. If you've never seen Hot Toys' work, check them out. It's scary how realistic they get things. But that also accounts for the 100-300 price tags....

Thanks for the photos. If I run across Rick and Michonne, I think i'm still going to pick them up.

It looks like he's wearing chaps! WTF? And they're all the same shotgun. The pistol grip isn't a real pistol grip, it's a cross between a pistol grip and a birds head grip. You'd think they'd get the guns right since all they'd have to do is recreate a specific model, of which there's loads of reference material for.
I'm surprised at the lack of detail on this figure. I have some McFarlane figures that have extremely high detail compared to this. I stay away from the poseable figures as they always seem more like kids toys. I have a couple Marine MEU figures by McFarlane that aren't poseable, and the detail is outstanding. They're the kind that mount on an included base plate, and even the detail on the weapons is as close to real as possible. The Slash(Guns N Roses) figure is also in outstanding detail. I've liked McFarlanes work ever since he did the "Perceptions" comic book series for Spiderman in the early 90's. But this seems like he dropped the ball for this figure at least. Have to wait and see if future figures for TWD get better.

I was in Toys R Us with my 10 year old daughter this weekend and she was pushing for me to buy the TWD action figures from the show, she wanted me to just buy them as she is well aware of my zombie fetish. I checked the price, 15 dollars per action figure, and while yes McFarlane does good work these are much smaller than the Spawn figures of old and really lack something in my mind.

Plus at 15 bucks I could not justify it, 30 dollars for 2 small figures? I will pass, even though she offered "to play with them" to make it worth my while... yeah because I want her going down the twisted road of my life starting at age 10 ;)

The do look cool mind you, just small, and way costly.

Exactly my point..Mcfarlane has long had its head buried up its collective backsides when it comes to figures..their Halo line was a step in the right direction, but those things are expensive as all hell too..but they're uber poseable and honestly, even though I'm not a huge fan of the games, I own all of them except for ODST and all of the novels, because it's a pretty fun universe to explore and find out about.

Anyway, yeah, at this price point, and this limited amount of movement, these are just a debacle. It would have been nice if NECA had picked up the license and given them the same treatment as their Assassins Creed line..lots of poseability and great extras..

At this rate, I'm going to wind up buying a few Truetype 1/6 scale figs and doing up a few zombies and survivors myself..I know how lame that sounds, but I think it'd be fun..and no..I never played with dolls as a kid..

I could tell he was really into them by the way he repeated how horrible and expensive they were multiple times, and agree with him either go for a static pose and make a stature or make an action figure you can hardly ever do both in one figure well.. If you can say 30+ dollars for two dolls and it not make your butt twitch you are richer than I.

Yeah..I honestly don't see the market for these..things. I wouldn't mind paying that price for Halo quality figures..these AREN'T that quality though..hell, Halo figures aren't even that great anymore either..

It's getting to the point that Mcfarlane needs to just suck it up and go under..they aren't pushing the hobby forward anymore..I've seen better paint, articulation and sculpt on fracking G.I. Joe mass market figures..and what they're doing with Star Wars these days sometimes has to be seen to be believed. Mcfarlane can stick his overpriced..things..up his rear end and sit on a wooden chair. I know I'm not going too far out of line by figuring that he snagged up the license just based on the fact that Image publishes the comic and NOT on any inherent benefits of his company. Collecting little pieces of plastic doesn't have to be a prohibitively expensive hobby, which is why there are so many collectors out there. I personally collect simply based on nostalgia or just having something cool to display other than guns, games or cars.

Dammit..I shouldn't be this pissed over action figures!

Prudishness, I'd imagine. The Shane and Rick figures look promising, though it's hard to make out the detail.

Guys....it's probably safe to assume that the final bicycle girl figure will split in half. While we don't see her bottom half in the official tv series, it is seen in the webisodes. Calm down.....

But didn't you know this is the most important thing in the world?!:p:sneaky::D

It would irk me though if it doesn't split ... not that I actually buy any of these figures (I don't personally see much point in it, but to each their own is what I say with these things). I still think Rick and Shane don't look much like their respective actors though. I've seen other models that have superb likenesses.

They look promising... other than the obvious affront to all that is right and good in the world with the whole bicycle girl zombie having a bottom half.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!1111eleven1111!!!!one 1 1

You should see the wall around my basement/entertainment room. Tons of figures and I love 'em. They're not much different from posters, imo. Something to show your love for a particular movie/show/franchise. Not for everyone, I know, but I love my figures and statues. I actually built a ledge within the wall around the room just for that reason. :p
