They did that in the comic at one point as a sort of parody. Rick awoke from his coma to find out that it wasn't the zombie apocalypse, but actually the alien apocalypse. It was also in color, which was a departure.

...It had been five minutes since the compound was introduced to the test zombie strapped to the table in the laboratory. It twitched and convulsed violently for a moment then, nothing. Rick turned to the group disappointed, they'd failed. As he began to walk away Dale pointed towards the zombie, and to everyone's surprise it was beginning to change - it was becoming human again, the cure works! Quickly, the rest of the group grabbed the barrels containing the compound and released it in to the ventilation system and turned up the fan settings to maximum. The compound shot through the building and out of the vents on the roof of the building billowing across the city and out into the countryside and the world beyond. The zombies collapsed to the ground and began to change back - the world was saved!

And they all lived happily ever after. The End.

Yep. That would suck. :D

LOL...

Worst way to end it would be to not let Darabont direct the last episode....

worst ending? they find a deus ex machina cure like salt or some random shamylan bullshit and they save everything forever and a snidely whiplash guy shows up as the guy who made the virus.

It's going to end up like Signs did.

"My God, their weakness is water! Even though that doesn't make any sense since it has to be raining somewhere in the world and no one has noticed them dying from water before!"

Rick is really a construction worker. Lori had passed away years ago from an undisclosed illness and Rick now lives a humdrum paycheck-to-paycheck existence shacked up with Andrea. The zombie apocalypse was all just a daydream in the autistic mind of young Carl that had been inspired by a kitschy zombie snowglobe given to him by his 'Uncle' Shane.

The worst way for the series to end? After budget cuts (http://www.joblo.com/horror-movies/could-budget-cuts-on-the-walking-dead-hurt-the-show-frank-darbont-thinks-so).

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter at a showrunner roundtable, the series creator[Darabont] said this:

“Creatively I have no complaints thus far. But I believe if they do move ahead with what they’re talking about, it will affect the show creatively ... in a negative way. Which just strikes me as odd. If you have an asset, why would you punish it?”

That show just sucked from the beginning. At least TWD has a decent start.

This is just a blatant lie and you know it. Lost didn't suck from the beginning. The opening credits of the first episode were perfectly acceptable.
