I'm surprised there hasn't been at least 5 members posting about getting this today! Lets hear it... who got it and what do you think of the full game?

I heard the save system is extremely frustrating. That's a big disappointment.

I'll be picking my copy up tomorrow (Wednesday). After I play it I'll leave my impressions. I know that I had alot of fun playing the demo that I downloaded from the Xbox Live Marketplace. There was no save options on the demo though so I can't speak to there being issues with the save system.

Once I play it for a bit I'll post some impressions though.

Sorry to hear you have to wait :(. It must be the EB's a Game Stop's near you that are a problem. Both chains where I pick up my games never seem to have a delay in receiving their games.

Thats strange, the EB/Game Stops in my area (there are at least 8 within about 5 miles of each other) always seem to get games early. Usually if you preorder the game and they get it early the call and let you pick it up early. Actually, the 4 or 5 games I have preordered from them in the past few years, all came in a few days early.

Anyway as far as I know the Blockbuster/Gamerush I work at will not have it until Friday. I don't have a 360 so I have to wait until i get a chance to play it at my friends house.

I got mine yesterday. I was only able to play for an hour or so and this game is more challenging than I thought. The good thing though is that if you die you can choose to start over at your latest save or just start a new game altogether. If choosing the latter you still keep the levels and stats you had before you died. :D

I haven't checked yet, but Capcom supposedly put up Xbox Live content already free of charge for people who have the game to download. It gives Frank access to lockers in the game which has new outfits for him to try on. The outifts are labeled as such: Miami Nights, Casual, Weekender, Round Shades, Burgundy Wine, Grandpa, Pink Paparazzi, and Man in Black outfits.

Played a bit of the game last night & am so far very impressed :D. As Tullaryx said the game is more challenging than it was thought to be. I had a blast killing zombies with the lead pipe & the lawn mower. It's early in the game but my favorite weapon so far is the lead pipe. Causes some serious damage .

The issue with the save system isn't as bad as it seems. You can save in the mall security office & the public restrooms so even if you die you don't really lose too much of your game. Also as Tullaryx mentioned, you have the option of loading a saved game or starting from scratch but with your accumulated level ups & stats. Not a bad situation at all. To me at least.

I will be playing more when I get home from work & plan on really enjoying the game to it's fullest .

BTW, I unlocked my first achievement by mistake. I fell off an upper level & wound up back on the main floor & see "Achievement Unlocked" :clown:. Nice way to get some points on my GamerScore .

It's a great game and a good reason to buy a 360 if you don't have one.
I had some friends over and they went nuts when they played it the first time.

I know it was delayed but isn't that zombie game that Tom Savini is involved with coming out this October?

rented it a couple days ago from blockbuster.

Overall it's a really fun game and was worth the 8 bucks. However the save system is a little annoying at times and often forces you to stay in one part of the mall for a long time.

Very good game but I recomend having a HDTV if you get it, the text is unbareably small and blury on my regular tv. Thats really my only major gripe with it.

well I think i'm gonna go smash some zombie heads in now! maybe with a sludgehammer, maybe with a nice shelf.

I must say that my favorite weapons in this game so far has got to be the mini-chainsaws and the wooden benches. The latter has a longer wait time with each attack but I can easily clear a large grouping in front of me and kill most of them with one charged blow.

I'm still enjoying using the lead pipe :). I also have really had fun with the golf club. When I was outside going between entrance's I used the lawn mower to clear the entrance I had to get into. Now that was a blast . Created lots of zombie mulch :D.

Have you gotten on the bicycle & mowed down zombies with it yet ??

Nope. In fact, I've only gotten as far as taking potshots at Carlito in the food court. I've been too busy trying to see how many zombies I can kill within a 72-hour period. I'll probably start on doing the Case and Scoop Missions once I hit level 25. For now, I just keep restarting the game with my previous stats over and over.

To me, Dead Rising is like eating a burnt pizza after a night of drinking back in college. There's a lot there, and for the most parts, it tastes really good, but when you hit a charred piece it makes you want to hurl.

Their inner loop and overall design idea is fantastic. A sandbox filled with flesh eating zombies… awesome! Valiantly trying to save people… cool! The quirky-cool photo aspect and the story.. all good. I'm even willing to say that if you removed most of the problems, the save game system would be an asset (forcing you to make tough choices, etc) rather than a hindrance. Of course, bad AI... not cool, confusing missions.. really not cool, Interface that always works againt you... crappy.

In the end, even with major flaws it's still a really fun game that I'm enjoying. I must say that after about the 6th or 7th hour of play, some things just clicked (like the timing) and it get's more fun.

But it pretty much deserves the 80-85's it's been getting.

I agree with the above average grade its been getting. I'm actually pretty hopeful that a sequel will be made of this game. The mechanics that work is already in place and if they can pull off giving the sequel an on-line co-op option then I'm sure that any sequel to come by will surpass the original.

Danny
14-Aug-2006, 09:49 PM

were would a sequel be set, its like the next stubbs game, how can it have a better location.

Vampirism is cool, if you can harness it. The main downside is having to feed nearly every day, if you dont wanna burn up in the sun. You get all those powers and spells, like nightvision/enemy detector, and more strength.

That said, I'll be playing Dead Rising this Thursday for the first time, and I can't effing wait.

2x4, pipe, knife, pipe, chain saw. I found a katana last night and discovered what the books do when you equip them. I've yet to find a shotgun. I guess I need to take the fight to a more open area and take advantage of the zombie distraction. That's what I did with the store owner and he went down easy.

In the beginning of the game where the zombies first breach the mall and you have to get up the stairs. If you wait abit and kill the zombies eating right underneath one of the stairs, there'll be a shotgun there. One of the survivors who was manning the barricade had one and since he failed you're free to take it. :)

There is also an Uzi that you can get which helps in beating any psychos. When you come out o the warehouse go up the stairs on the right side. On the 1st level turn to the right. There is a ledge there that you can jump onto. Go along the ledge all the way till the end & you'll see an Uzi there :). Hope that will help you out.

Nope. Costs me the same as the regular edition but its supposedly a limited edition so i dont think you can walk into a shop and pick it up off the shelf.
Only difference is the box. Theres also a map but i dont know if that comes with the regular version or not.

yeah they said only the limited oblivion got a map but my regular one did, too bad i wanted one of those septim coins, and im probably getting this later today, so hopefully my xbox wont explode.

I GOT DEAD RISING!!

and while it aint that sturctured its pretty cool i started the 72 hours again and beat all the zombies at the start so i got 4 different achievements there, which was good, plus you gotta replay it a few times to see everything and get all the achievements but did any american copies say "not endorsed, or made by geroge a romeros dawn of the dead" on thecase?

AND ANOTHER THING!

i whent into forbidden planet and they said "oh all the metal tins sold out yesterday, but i whent into game and there were dozens of em, why? i asked them, heres there answer.

"well you need to pre-order it and the ten pounds off in the window is only if you buy off the website which has 15 pounds postage adn packageing and takes 4 days to arrive, but you get the metal case then"

i asked how they thought it was okay to hold some back for online buyers in the stores and did the games developers tell them to charge more for the limited edition?

"....errrr,.....ill go get the manager, gary!, oh hes not ere sorry youll have to come back tomorrow and ask him, so do you want the plastic one?"

NO!, NOT FOR £65!!!

i got the plastic one at forbidden planet for 30, god damn game are ripp off merchants.

After playing this for a week now, i must say this is THE best apocalypse/zombie game i have ever played.
The atmosphere/tone is spot on.
I really didn't have a problem with the save system once i became familar with the map.
The visuals are outstanding not to mention the sound effects.
The storyline was interesting, if a bit critical of the US.
The only issue i have with it, is that in infinity mode to unlock the lightsaber you have to survive for 5 days (game time) which equates to 10 hours (normal time) with no saves. C'mon. Even as much as i love the game, i haven't the time or motivation to do that.:(
All in all, a truly superb game and some of the skills you unlock as the game progresses are hilarious.

As for infinity mode, I dont know 100% cos I havn't unlocked it yet, cant you just hide up somewhere safe and leave the game for 10 hours as you go about your daily busuiness?

Nope. Your health bar is ever decreasing so you have to scavage for food. The food is scarce and doesn't reappear neither so its a constant race against the clock. Great idea but NO SAVES. Ridiculous

Infinite more the best way to get food items: kill the survivors and psychopaths for them.

I posted a tip for Infinite Mode in the other Dead Rising thread but thought I would add it here:

Make sure you have the 2 Health Books in your inventory while in Infinite Mode. They make it much easier to keep yourself alive. An example would be being down to only one health bar, use a blended juice & with the 2 Health books in inventory you should almost replenish your health bars totally.

You can find Health book 1 at Sir Books-A-Lot on the second floor in Wonderland Plaza & book 2 at The Sinister Read on the second floor of the Entrance Plaza.

I got to 2 days & some odd amount of hours & got killed because of a mistake on my part. I was down to 2 bars & was about to go for a blended juice when I was caught from behind :(. Ah well, I was tired anyway :). As kidgloves mentioned, the no saves in Infinite Mode is not great . You need to have some time if you want to get up there in time.

Infinate mode sounds quite hardcore. I'm still playing through 72 hour mode, but i'm trying to complete it properly. I'm currently on the "Bomb Disposal" mission, but havn't had a chance to play it again yet.
