well what do you guys think after the double bill premier on bbc3?
SOME SPOILERS!
i liked the idea how ,becuase captain jack was brought back to life by the heart of the tardis in season 1 of the who remake, that he is now immortal and he has these wierd powers and cant die, its a nice twist on the regeneration idea. and i liked all the references "im waiting for a doctor, the right one" and "then theyd be waiting till the sun exploded".
the script is a lot more adult than dr.who with the word **** used from the outset and sex scenes in the second ep, which was much poorer than the first, but it was a great season opener and yet im surprised how torchwood is comprised of only around 5 people now.
still cant wait for the cyberwoman episode though that sounds cool, so though its no x files, buffy or galactica it'll tide me over till the doctors back in december though i can imagine it wasnt everyones cup of tea.

I dont wanna p**s on the Dr Who massive but from what I have just read in the above post... HELL NO!!! This is sacreligious! Sex scenes? Swearing? Cyberwomen? No way Jose, this is sounding WAAAYYY too comic book for my liking. What's next? Pink Daleks with dildoes? The Coxx Of Balhoon? Captain Jack battles a race of large white globules from the planet Penus? Mmm... I think I'll pass on this and wait for series 3 of the real stuff!

I actually really liked it. It's like a Dr. Who which is very much for adults, and the connections to Dr. Who are very rare if not non-existent, so Torchwood is its own thing. It's like a British X-Files-cum-Dr. Who - with swearing, violence and some sex.
Dr. Who did get a little kidified at times, so to have a spin off, which is very much for adults, is pretty cool I think. It's not really gratuitous, no more so than anything other post-watershed show, it's just in comparison to Dr. Who it might feel 'gratuitous' to some.
Make no mistake, this is very much not Dr. Who. This show is it's own thing, and I have to say I rather enjoyed it. The odd bit of so-so writing here and there aside (par for the Russell T. Davis course really) I thought it was rather nifty. And the Welsh chick is easy on the eyes too. ;)
Downloading last night's episodes right now for keeps as well. I rather enjoyed it.
Capn - give it a chance at least, don't dismiss without seeing.

I thought it was OK... Didn't blow me away, but I'll give it a few more episodes...

Captain Jacks resurrection by Rose in 'Parting of Ways' has had a unexpected side effect - got it, but would any new viewers? The Doctors hand lopped off in 'The Christmas Invasion' is a treasured item of Jacks - got it, but would any new viewers?
Torchwood one was destroyed in 'Doomsday, Torchwood Two was built on the site of the rift from 'The Unquiet Dead' and 'Boom town', Torchwood Three is located in Glasgow and Torchwood Four has gone missing. Neat little set up there.

I might give it a go. So it's set in the same universe but completely unrelated. Kinda like the ewok spin-off movie 'Caravan Of Courage'! :D
