No, I don't believe in a "God"
It's a "goth-rock" band that I have bad-mouthed in the past.

Soul on Fire is a good one. I have no idea how old it is, but it's good.
Dude, bassman311, that sig you have.......everytime I see it I hear in my head, "Get in."

Like I said...I haven't heard much of HIM so I can't really say whether or not I like the band. Hey Minion, If you had to recommend a HIM cd to a new-comer, which would it be? I might have to try it out.
I know what you mean, Adreno. I love that sig.
Speaking of "Fear and Loathing", have you seen the BBC documentary "Fear and Loathing in Hollywood"? It comes as an extra on the Criterion Collection DVD for "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and is very much worth a watch. The documentary people ride with Thompson as he drives from his home in Colorado to Hollywood by way of Vegas. He's going to talk to the writers of "Where the Buffalo Roam".
It's also got some very good interviews with Thompson. Some very funny stuff.
*Thompson is packing a bowl as he sits in front of the camera, when his sack falls off his lap and turns upside down in the lawn*
Thompson: "AH JESUS....WHY GOD, WHY?!?!? WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN IN THE END! F**K YOU!"
Not to mention a scene where they go to Thompson's hotel room and his face is COMPLETELY covered in white makeup and he's sweating like crazy....yet he never says anything about it..

hehe, good to see you're giving them a second chance.
Poison Girl is one of my faves of my fave HIM album (Razorblade Romance) and Soul on Fire is a wicked track - from their fourth album (Love Metal). Love Metal focusses on very epic songs, which are often quite heavy. Soul on Fire is a great track when played live - although it was rather ghey that most of the audience at the gig I went to was a bunch of kiddywinks who only knew tracks from Love Metal (you could tell by how much moshing was going on *pfft*)
I like their latest album (Dark Light) better than Love Metal, it's a mix between their older sound and their newer Tim Palmer sound (who mixed for the likes of Ozzy Osbourne).
The thing with HIM is the fans ... and friggin' Bam ... that's what puts a lot of people off, it's all those friggin' kiddywink-bam-tards. Now, I enjoy Viva La Bam and the CKY vids, but dude, enough of the Bamagram crap! *grrr!* It was like when they came to my Uni and played live - a bunch of local kids in slipknot hoodies posing like tards, swamping the 'true' fans who are there for the music...not to see if Bam pops up.
Check out some of their other tracks, you might find some other ones you like. I personally have been enjoying some M83 lately, it's not really my genre of music, but I quite like M83 - it's like chillout/electric ... it's French, but I'll let them off on that one :D
As for goth rock ... I think the fans are more goth than the band themselves who seem more into horror flicks like The Evil Dead rather than cutting themselves and wearing black lipstick, lol. Again, celebrity fans ... and many average joe fans ... can end up be damaging to a band's rep sometimes...HIM is a case of that, but I ignore it and go straight for the music.

Yes....and,.....I can relate to this......:D
I was blessed to meet Dr. Gonzo ONCE. It was only 3 minutes (or so) but, it was a cool 3 minutes.

Well Bassman, as a newcomer I'd suggest "Razorblade Romance". Back at the start of Uni when I got into them I wasn't sure whether I'd be into them - I was changing from punk rock to go back to what I'd originally been into - heavy metal/heavy rock.
But I listened to a couple of tracks and dug what I heard and went off and dug out the only copy of Razorblade Romance from HMV and took it back. Personally I was blown away, I'd never heard anything quite like it - especially in a lyrical sense - but basically I feel they have a unique sound ... one that's now getting ripped off or appears to be (because now HIM are 'in' a bunch of other Finnish/Scandinavian bands are getting dragged over here to hop on the bandwagon).
So yeh - check out Razorblade Romance - their second album from back in 2000, which as I found out a while ago, was partially recorded/mixed in Monmouth - about 10 miles from where I live!!! Dude...
Word of advice - ignore all the bam-tard fans, ignore all that crap the band themselves have no control over, and just listen to the music mano-a-mano, so-to-speak...hope you enjoy.

Dude, That's the only way to listen to ANY piece of music.... At least for me it is. Unfortunately it's different with others:dead: ...
