Director of such films as, Blood Feast, 2000 Maniacs, The Gore Gore Girls, The Wizard of Gore, A Taste of Blood, The Gruesome Twosome...so on. I've recently gotten into his stuff, because anyone who likes gore and is considered a gorehound has to like his stuff. He, more or less, started the splatter genre. With the exception of over-the-top acting by some, and the OBVIOUS make up effects(it was the 60's/70's so it's damn impressive anyway) the movies are quite entertaining, nothing scary about them now-a-days, but back then there would have been a huge creep and repulsive factor. I thought NOTLD was as gory as 60's cinema got but I was quite wrong.

The Wizard of Gore was my first one by him and after that I was hooked. I bought that 6 DVD pack of his.

I started out with Monster a-go-go - 1965 TERRIBLE drive in b flick, but, so worth the watch (especially if you're in the right mood - nudge nudge wink wink). The Wizard of Gore is fantastic!!!!! I honestly believe this film set the satndard for some of Hollywood's storylines.

Have you seen Linda and Abilene? that one isn't horror/freaky, just plain freaky.

The only problem I could think of is the sound. Montag's speech was LOUD then quiet and then HE'D GO ON A RANT and calm down. I had the remote in-hand the whole movie.

What is Blood Feast like? Have you heard of 2001 Maniacs?

Bloodfeast? or Bloodfeast II? well, the first one - there is no blood, there is no feast, LOL. I haven't seen the second one. I did see 2,000 maiacs but it was years ago; I didn't know there was a 2,001 maniacs. Gotta love those flicks that go after the Southern folk!

2001 Maniacs is a semi-sequel/remake. It has Robert Englund in it. I pre-ordered it. Comes out March 28th.

I don't think HGL has anything to do with it though. I think it is Eli Roth...but I am 100% not sure. I know we were promised lots of blood and nudity. lol.

Only thing that could make it better is if there was a scene with bloody nudity. ^_^

as long as you don't expect a blood feast, you're ok.

I will pass on it then. I'll stick with what I know to be splashy films.

Sounded like you weren't recommending it. I'll find it then. Hell, I have seen worse and dumber and less-promising movies.

Wizard of Gore - any good? I've had the DVD for a couple of years now and STILL haven't watched it. Saw Blood Feast, which was nifty, I've got 3 more of his flicks downloaded...but haven't seen them either, there's always something else to watch you know...hehe.

They are sort of tame by today's standards. But just put yourself back in the time they were made and you'll love them. You might even love them anyway, they out-gore some films now-a-days.

It's probably pretty easy to out-gore things these days with the likes of crap like "When a Stranger Calls" remake. Bah...

How could you go into PG-13 and expect gore?

Hey, there have been some decent pg13 horror flicks.....

But I actually never saw that flick. I just heard EVERYONE that saw it complaining about it. Not to mention that the main plot twist of the original was given away in the trailer/tv spots for the remake...
