So... BB style or threaded... What do you think best suits "General Discussion"?

Threaded is definately better, you can pick and choose which posts you look at and you can see them all laid out in a small area - rather than scrolling down a big long list of posts, and knowing some of the GD posts that get going, threaded is a good thing to have.

Either way for me works out, but I chose BB. With BB, posts that are active stay near the top. In threaded, if theres an active post, itll slide off the first page with time. Someone could post ten threads which nobody has an interest in, and they'd shove a highly active one right off the page. BB also looks more organized, and you can have more threads per page.
I do agree with you MinionZombie about the threaded version being easier to scroll replies for a single post. That is one feature I've come to like about the threaded version.

BB or threaded has nothing to do with "weighting"... Back over on the old forum, for each forum you can specify BB or Threaded, and "weighted" or not weighted. A "weighted" forum behaves the way you mentioned, a reply forces the thread (back) to the top of the forum.

In this new arena I am getting used to the hybrid option.

Like how the games discussion forum is, it freaked me out when I first realised that happened there. I thought I was going crazy for a moment until I figured it out.
Of course there is also the combo option, which is what I'm using at the moment...but I still just look at the threaded box above the list of posts, so that was a bit pointless...but meh. I have to say, I like the day-to-day linearity of threaded, as time moves on, so do the posts and there's a natural progression - perhaps it makes more sense to me as I like to remain quite organised and linear in my thinking - rather than "oh that post is back again?"...hmmm.

Is it a possibility to create an option for each individual user and their preference upon threaded or BB? Sort of like the color scheme, except they can chose whether they view in threaded or BB?

You can manually choose which one you want out of 3 options...somewhere in your account settings I believe. Or try the "Display Modes" drop down box above this thread, that lets you choose as well.

Wait a second, hold the phone. If you can chose what you want your view to be, then what is the freakin' fuss over about how the default should be? It can be changed...

lol...when you say that, it makes sense, why with the thread? haha.
BUT - this is the second time I've received a reply, but have been referred to the post that I made...rather than the response which followed my post - what's up with that?

The view you choose sticks across every forum...
