I think it would work quite well for this forum, but you guys know we have a calendar?
you can post events on specified days and they appear on the main page, i think this would be handy for conventions and such.
You can access the calendar at any time by clicking the calendar button on the navbar or through this link (http://forum.homepageofthedead.com/calendar.php).
