i need one for all of my media files.

i've heard good things about LaCie, so i'm grabbing this.

http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10693

if nothing else it looks pretty cool. :rockbrow:

Those look pretty cool, and being a Lego fanatic I could see buying it. Only problem is 250gb doesn't cut it for me. I need (2) 500 gb-er's for my needs plus the 800gb I already have.

250 for me is a start.

my plan is should the drive be stable it to use the 250 as an "all in one" storage device untill i get another one. then i'll split my music to one, movies to another. and system files to a third.

right now i just want something to use as an ARC to hold my music 'n porn.

Here is how I do things... might help you.

200gb drive # 1

20gb Partitioned for Windows XP pro

Remaining space partitioned as Drive D (160gb) This is where all the games and fun program I like are stored. By keeping them on a seperate partition and keeping the Windows Partition small it makes the machine work faster.

HDD # 2

Formatted NTFS all 200gb - Video files for Deadlands.

Hdd# 3 - Sits in its carrying case until I need it. This drive contains a lot of back up files. Having this and HDD#4 hooked up via an IDE card makes my system a tad laggy

HDD # 4 - another sit in the case storage drive. When in need I plug into it.

Looks pretty cool, nice price too ... I was skeptical looking at it (at first). But it's even got decent speed (7200RPM is my minimum).

Lately, I've been buying internal hard drives and then buying enclosures --- it's much easier on the pocket. But this definitely looks like a good deal.

They're decent units, i used one of Lacie's standard ex HD's last week for data transferring. and between the 8mb cache, and the 7200 RPM, you can really feel the difference when you pull or send data.

Minny, i'm willing to bet they do.

You could just buy an Internal HDD and an external enclosure that turns that internal to an external. Newegg.com has some 300gb HDD's for $110.00 and they have a 16mb cache

no i need it to be external. alot of my friends use me to find them music movies and porn, i then inturn transfer it to them.

the Ex HD will streamline this process.
