View Full Version : The Bigger Badass - Part 4: The Revenge...

Okay, so Snake Plissken still reigns supreme ... can he remain triumphant, or is wrist-timer almost outta time?

Choose your favourite, who is your bigger badass?

Snake Plissken ... or - Corporal Dwayne Hicks?

Now I've been basically two steps away from chowing down on Plissken's other mono-eye, but ... ooooooh ... this is a toughie ... I think I'm gonna have to go for Hicks personally. The dude takes on acid-blooded evil bastard aliens, not just street thugs ... and he's so super cool you just know he had chicks falling at his feet left and right before he signed up. He's like the Space Fonzy ... minus the cheese, with added loner gruntyness ... and he can sleep through a drop! :D

Previous Polls:

1) John McClane VS Jack Bauer ... John McClane wins
2) John McClane VS Snake Plissken ... Snake Plissken wins
3) Snake Plissken VS Major Alan 'Dutch' Schaefer ... Snake Plissken wins

I went for Snake again.

Damn straight, Robert Duvall is the badness man. You can poll him against The Incredible Hulk and he'd still come out on top.

lol ... ooh it's a close race! :stunned::eek:

Hell yeah for Kilgore next round.

Hicks is just awesome though, as a kid playing Aliens or The Terminator you'd always end up fighting over who got to be Hicks or Reese. :)

That won't even be a contest. Killgore is more of a badass than anyone listed in ANY of these polls.

Exactly. :D

MZ - you need to pick some less obscure people - I mean, I know who they are, but we need some more main-stream badasses. What about Indiana Jones? :D

DjfunkmasterG
24-Apr-2007, 02:07 PM
Indiana Jones isn't what i would calla badass... (Connery) James Bond... Thats a bad ass, although Daniel Craigs proved to be a pretty freaking badass Bond as well.

Agent Smith... he was Badass.
Michael Madsen in Resevoir Dogs (Mr. Blonde)
Gary Busey in Lethal Weapon 1

What about Martin Riggs? Dirty Harry? Tony Montana? Ash? Eric Draven? Tyler Durden? Han Solo? Captain Willard? Leon? William Wallace? Sgt. Hartman?

These damn "badass" threads will go on forever. The choices are endless.

Martin Riggs gets automatic disqualification... he gave up smoking and lost his edge.

Dirty Harry - Good Badass

Tony Montana - Death Automatically disqualifies him

Ash - Might be a good choice, but doesn't really scream badass to me.

Eric Draven - Came back from the Dead and whupped tons of ass, so yes he would qualify for the list.

Tyler Durden - was the figment of someone's imagination (Disqualified)

Han Solo - Come on, When Harrison played the Pres in Air Force One he was a bigger badass... not too mention he had to be rescued from being frozen in carbonite.

Capt. Willard - Refresh my memory?

William Wallace - King of the Badasses in some realms, instant qualification because he kicked ass while wearing a skirt (kilt) whatever)

Sgt. Hartman - Hmmm, gimme time on this.

In response:
Tony Montana - Because he died, he doesn't qualify? What about the first one with Jack Bauer?

Ash - He did do a lot of pansy screaming.....so I can understand omitting him.

Tyler Durden - All of these "badasses" are fictional characters. So how does Tyler Dudren not qualify? He's fictional to us and also fictional in the book/movie.

Han Solo - The carbonite argument wins. Good call.

Capt. Willard - I'll give you a hint: "When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle." You should know this one, man. Classic.

William Wallace - The kilt thing just doesn't make sense. That shouldn't disqualify him.

Sgt. Hartman - "Who said that? Who the f*ck said that? Who's the slimy little communist sh*t, twinkle-toed cocksucker down here who just signed his own death warrant?!?!?"

How are Hicks and Dutch obscure?! :stunned:

Everybody worth their life has seen Aliens and Predator! :D

I was watching Sin City recently - that Hartigan chap is a tough old cookie ... and he has Jessica Alba totally up for chowing down on his man-meat, now that's a player right there. Although ... yeah ... he does kill himself at the end ... but he did it to save Jessica Alba ... give the man some respect! :D

Eric Draven ... it was a cool movie, but he's not a major player ... and he's the poster child of the emo generation = "global laming" (to quote South Park).

William Wallace - the real one ... being played by an Aussie in Ireland is a bit naff ... and it's a kilt!!! Don't ever say skirt in reference to the national dress in the presence of a Scotsman (moi, LostBoy ... and maybe some others)...:stunned::p:D

I'll let you off, you're a mate ... but average stranger folk talkin' that kinda stuff pisses me off, it's not like we run around wearing them all day, it's for special occasions - like a wedding ... I might wear one when/if I get shacked up ... but I'll be wearing boxers underneath! haha! ... and I'll pack some coovan in the sporran too. :sneaky:

Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon 1 - the dude's unstoppable, hard-as-nails ... pretty much ... or the guy's just a psycho with a deathwish ... now Dirty Harry ... there's a man's man, he won't let the Doc scissor his costly new trousers, he's deal with the pain *grunts like Tim Taylor*.

Compared to Bauer, McClane, Bond and many others, those two are about as obscure as you can get. :p  :D

Because Jack Bauer died is why he lost to John McClane... nuff said. Tony Montana died because he was stupid, not because he was a badass, however he HAD BALLS!... So it could go either way.

I never said William Wallace was disqualified, I said because he did it wearing a kilt makes it instant qualification. :D

Sgt. Hartman... The thing is you never see him in real action which is why i am have to maul that one over.

Tyler Durden is twice removed fictional... he is a fictional character of a fictional Character... Doesn't count.

these "badass" polls need some rules and what not. Right now it's like a lawless free for all where people make their own rules and guidelines.:shifty:

Or maybe they should be nixed all together considering they'll never end and take over HPotD like the friggin plague.:p

DjfunkmasterG
24-Apr-2007, 09:28 PM
Ok, here are some rules...

Being Frozen in carbonite automatically disqualifies you
Dying out of Stupidity disqualifies you
Being a Fictional Character of a Fictional Character Disqualifies you
If your body count is less than 5 it disqualifies you
Anyone starring in a Paul W.S. Anderson movie cannot be in this Badass poll
Anyone who uses a chainsaw as an appendage but runs around screaming like a pansy is disqualified.

To Qualify

Killing someone without the use of a gun gets you instant qualification, unless you are disqualified based on disqualification rules above. (side note: if that kill without a gun makes your body count less than 5 you will be allowed into the badass poll... because anyone who can kill at least 2 people without a gun should automatically be on this poll)

If you real name is R. Lee Emery you will be qualified - So Sgt hartman gets in on this.

You are not a badass if you do something stupid... Badass is someone who is cunning, smart, and doesn't give a F*ck, but they can't make stupid decisions like taking on 200 trained colombian hit squad members while jacked up on a key of coke. Thats not bad ass, thats just plain fcuking dumb.

If you wear an eye patch you are qualified as long as you don't have anything in the disqualification area.

Taking on a shedload of Aliens is instant qualification.

Taking on an army while wearing a kilt gets you instant qualification.

You break into a gun store and walk through a mall full of zombies shooting them in the head with deadly accuracy in one shot.

Add to this list of rules as you all see fit....

BTW looks like Snake won this one too.! :D

 Funny list.

You know....after thinking about what you were saying earlier about the James Bond's......How about we do one with all the actors that played James Bond? (Excluding the old "Casino Royale" - that thing was a joke).

Obviously Bond is a badass, but which actor-in-character of Bond is the most badass?

DjfunkmasterG
24-Apr-2007, 09:39 PM
Man thats tough... Hands down Connery, because he has done more Bond Films, but Daniel Criag was just a bad motherfcuker, He is the closest thing to a Connery James Bond ever.

Oh... If you characters name is Jules Winfield or ZEUS... YOU ARE QUALIFIED, AND SHOULD WIN BY DEFAULT! No questions asked, unless you are Lt. Kilgore.

Ahhhhhh maaaaaan ... rules?! ... "global laming" ...

It's all in the heart maaaaaaan...:)

Neato list though Deej...diggin' it.

Anyone who knows who Snake Plissken is will know who Dutch and Hicks are, come on dude ... we're alllllll nerds.:thumbsup:

Now, if you said something like "guy on the left, 3rd row back in the first Tom Hanks shot of Saving Private Ryan VS the dude who looks roguish in the background of a shot in Bullitt" then yeah, that'd be pretty obscure.

Jack Bauer is faaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr from obscure, blates.

...

I just watched Sixteen Candles (no, I'm not "doing a Silent Bob" in reaction, but I do feel warm and fuzzy) and now there's a documentary on about LSD, so I've gone all weird...

...

Oh and Daniel Craig as James Bond was super duper serial badass ... the dude took a MASSIVE pounding to the nuts (I bet he was wishing Mr. T would come along and give him some new nuts, but he got on with it anyway) ... damn that scene was brutal. *shudders*

DjfunkmasterG

I haven't really been a James Bond fan since Connery left, but Craig definitely has me interested again.

Why you gotsta hate, MZ? You wanna throw down?:p

I just mean that the definition of "badass" can differ from person to person(which it already has in the past threads). Just saying that maybe the rules of a fictional badass should be put out there and maybe we can all agree on these and have some easier voting. I've had trouble with the last few.:p

I ain't hatin' any playaz dawwwwwwwg ... just breathin' out mah views ...

What the hell am I talkin' about? First really weird dreams all night, now I'm talking all jibber jabbery ... I'd better "GET SOME NUTS!!!" in that case.:p

It's all about personal choice with no inspiration from rules or whatnot, because half the fun is everybody talking back and forth about why they think their choice is the more badassier than the other. :) That's what I was meaning...

Just any chance to use the term "global laming", which is f*cking hilarious (from South Park, for those who might be a tad confused) ... I just love the delivery of it ... and it's a funny phrase in it's own right. :p

It's actually not too bad, I go take a whizz instead, or tune out ... I only have ABC on for Home Improvement, and I either sit and watch it, or record it (so I FF through the ads :D).
