Twilight of the Dead now a free online read!

Permuted Press (http://www.permutedpress.com) and author Travis Adkins are releasing Adkins' hit zombie novel Twilight of the Dead chapter-by-chapter over the next several weeks free for reading online! Celebrate Halloween by reading the first installment at the book's online home: http://twilightofthedead.blogspot.com

Five years after the dead rose a small band of survivors has taken refuge in the fortified town of Eastpointe. When a newcomer arrives claiming to know the location of the antidote to the zombie plague, it sends the town into an uproar. To retrieve this cure, a group of survivors must venture outside the relative safety of the compound's walls and into a world ruled and dominated by the flesh-eating undead.

Wow, now that is a hell of a deal! I bought Twilight of the Dead a couple of months ago and have recommended it to several people. I'll be sure to spread the word to a lot of others about the new site. Thanks to Travis and you for the generosity and sharing it online.

Any more news about the sequel? Or the sequel to Plauge of the Dead by ZA Recht? Those two have been some of the best Z-novels I've read in a while and I'm eagerly awaiting more. ;)

Travis is hard at work on Twilight of the Dead 2. He lost steam for a while, but recently he's been very excited and working hard on it.

Plague of the Dead 2--which is titled Thunder and Ashes--is finished and we're working on the editing right now. Should be out in early-mid 2008.

Thanks for your support, Skydog! I also love to hear from the fans.

I read it.

My official review:

"Meh."

Not great, not terrible. Believe me, I've seen a hell of a lot worse, in every way.

Unfortunately, it uses the old "zombies controlled by some assclown" routine. Normally, that would get me to throw the book in the garbage.

But, it had enough strong points to counteract that. All the characters were likeable, and it managed to tell a lot of story in a short space.
