I'll keep my eye open for UK numbers when we "officially" get it on the 5th.

That said, this is a US production so it will need US numbers to drive it forward and keep it ticking over. Really hope to see the US numbers sustained.

yes....fantastic news. Even with the pilot leaked out weeks before.

So now we just wait for them to go ahead and announce that second season. Should be any day now.

    Woohooo.
I've posted this elsewhere but anyway here goes.

    Some numbers.
    TWD had 5.3m viewers.
Mad Men had 900,000 with 1.8m for the heavily promoted 2nd season.
Breaking Bad had 1.4m rising to 2m for the 3rd season.
Bearing in mind that AMC had faith with the low numbers and stuck with the above shows, I would say that TWD is a smash. Not to mention the overseas markets. What was it? 120 countries.
    2nd season announcement next please

fantastic. so far everyone i told to watch the show has emailed, called, or texted me today thanking me for hounding them to watch. glad all that hot air i expelled about how great this show was gonna be wasn't wasted breath.

and like kg said, with this show's numbers eclipsing those of both mad men and breaking bad, and the general fever this show's pilot audience is now displaying, it's pretty much a lock on the 2nd season.

*virtual high-fives everybody on the board*

We'll have a clearer picture after the 2nd and 3rd episodes I would imagine. This has been heavily promoted but hopefully it hooked enough people to maintain good numbers.

but if only half of the 5+ million tune back in next week, they'll still be putting up numbers to rival BB or MM.

and everyone i know is now talking about telling everyone they know about tuning in for this series. i think we've unleashed a monster...the only downfall is gonna be the inevitable shit-storm of knock-offs, imitations, and shitty zombie films & projects that are green-lit with the hopes of sharing the limelight with TWD.

FX UK is up to 659,000 viewers for The Walking Dead, after adding up all of the airings by Sunday. Based on the pattern of previous series, we expect to get to 1m once delayed viewing is added in.

Yeah, I just did a quick search, but nothing. How long will it take to get reports in on this, do you think?

    BUT EVEN BETTER

(New York, NY – November 8, 2010) AMC announced today the renewal of “The Walking Dead” for a 13-episode second season. Since debuting Sunday, October 31, “The Walking Dead” has broken ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18-49 than any other show in the history of cable television.

Today’s announcement also includes Fox International Channels’ (FIC) global renewal for a second season, following record-breaking premiere ratings in 120 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. “The Walking Dead” was the highest-rated original series premiere ever to air on FIC simultaneously worldwide.

“The ‘Dead’ has spread!” said Charlie Collier, President, AMC. “No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as ‘The Walking Dead.’ This reaffirms viewers’ hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back ‘The Walking Dead’ again, across the globe.”

Wow....a thirteen episode second season? Where have I heard that before?

They knew that shit was coming and someone let the cat out of the bag months ago. Nice to see them admitting to it now, though....
