    Transcendance (film) - Oh dear?

The premise is great! The cast is great! Looks epic! But the trailer makes my spider senses tingle...

So you want to kill someone, so you shoot them... Really want to make sure you kill them? Do you:-
    a) Shoot them twice... Hey even three times...
    or
    b) Shoot them just once with a bullet laced with radioactive material.
    Ummmmm!!!!

So as a script writer, you're writing the scene where a human gains conciousness in a machine... "IS ANYONE THERE?"... No you put "IS ANY0NE TH3RE?"... Really? Are we getting this cheap and silly?

Anyway, let's hope the film transcends my concerns!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. TRANSCENDENCE is a great-looking film, but beyond that and a strong opening, it doesn't have the staying power to be anything close to impressive.

I believe the idea is so that even if you don't manage to get a fatal hit/are foiled in your assassination attempt before you can make sure the target is eliminated, that they still die. Insurance for a determined assassin.

Beyond that, yeah, all of the reviews I hear coming in don't sound terribly positive. Shame, as it's a subject I'm highly interested in. I'll still check it out at some point & judge for myself, but I'll probably wait for DVD.
