    Black Sails (TV Show)

Don't let the Michael Bay credit put you off.
Pilot was directed by Neil Marshall and they renewed the show and started filming a 2nd series last November way before it even aired.

    Anyone else digging this?
    Loved the first 2 episodes.

Surprised there isn't more interest in this.
Looks beautiful visually, interesting well developed characters, good story and keeps my attention from start to finish.
    Episode 5 was excellent.

    I was worried initially because:
    a) Treasure Island is one of my all time favourite reads and
    b) Michael Bay.

But to my pleasant surprise a lot of folks seem to like it. Thanks for the heads up guys. Will check it out soon-ish

This show also has the best theme tune I've heard in ages.

Just need to find when it's on in the UK!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Thanks for the "heads up". I just watched the pilot and really enjoyed it. As well as the above mentioned merits, the show seems well researched. Loved that the plot (so far) hinges on the pirate code and walking a thin line between democracy and anarchy.

No news on a UK broadcaster yet Neil. Probably will be FX or Sky Atlantic I'd imagine

    "Repel boarders....Arrgh!"

Episode 5 was great following it's set up by the slower paced episode 4. Favourite characters, Anne Bonny and Jack Rackham.

This has really hit its stride now.
If people are still interested and curious about this, it would work superbly for binge viewing
    .
    Fascinating characters aplenty.

You, sir, have got me interested.

A shame Mob city wasn't renewed. But this I'll check out!

I do like pirate fiction etc., though pirate fanboys get on my nerves.

Glad to hear this may be worth my time.

The show was granted a 2nd season six months before the 1st even aired, supposedly based on the reception by fans at the San Diego Comic Con.

Really like the flashbacks as they fill out the story
