    Flight 4U 9525

Seems the pilot was locked out and was trying to break back in while the co-pilot intentionally descended!

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32062278:-

One of the two pilots of the Germanwings plane that crashed in the French Alps was locked out of the cockpit, according to reports.

Early findings from the cockpit voice recorder suggest the pilot made desperate efforts to get back in, sources close to the investigation say.

"The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door, and there is no answer," the investigator said, describing audio from the recorder.

"And then he hits the door stronger, and no answer. There is never an answer. You can hear he is trying to smash the door down."

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32063587:-

The co-pilot of the Germanwings flight that crashed into the French Alps took sole control of plane and intentionally started the descent, officials say.

When Mr Lubitz finished training in 2009, he was diagnosed with a serious depressive episode and went on to receive treatment for a year and a half, the German news site Bild reports.
So it seems very likely this individual committed suicide, and decided to take a plane load of innocent people along with him. FFS!

Several airlines have now pledged to change their rules to ensure at least two crew members are present in the cockpit at all times.

Hey, ya know what...don't let people who've had a severe bout(s) of depression at the controls of an aircraft.

TBF, I would have thought that that would have been a restriction already?

There are people who don't even know that their best friends are alcoholics. Depression, like alcoholism, is viewed as a weakness and something to be ashamed off. People who suffer from something like that are experts at hiding who they really are. There's no test in the world that can be a 100% valid.
