La Belle Equipe, 92 rue de Charonne, 11th district - at least 19 dead in gun attacks Le Carillon bar and Le Petit Cambodge restaurant at rue Alibert, 10th district - at least 12 dead in gun attacks La Casa Nostra restaurant, 92 rue de la Fontaine au Roi, 11th district - at least 5 dead in gun attacks Stade de France, St Denis, just north of Paris - explosions heard outside venue, three attackers dead Bataclan concert venue, 50 boulevard Voltaire, 11th district - stormed by four gunmen, at least 80 dead You have to wonder if IS keeps this up if ground troups will be sent in against them.

That's exactly what they want. They want the west to bomb and send in troops, as it gives them support for their cause, recruitment and excuses for more attacks. IS have stated this morning that these attacks are in retaliation for French bombing of targets in Syria. A Syrian passport was allegedly found on one of the gunmen. If that's true, then it's there to lead French revenge back to Syria and the cycle continues. I can't say what the absolute answer is to IS, but I do know that the west (primarily the US) needs to stop its financial and military support to Saudi Arabia, a lot of which ends up in the hands of these terrorist groups and they also need to end their support for the so called "rebels" in Syria, as the personnel involved there are interchangeable with the likes of the Al Nusra Front and IS. Frankly, they need to ally themselves with both Assad and Putin, come up with a sensible, honourable, solution and quit the political point scoring. Bush, Blair and the neo cons were warned that their foolish and greedy actions in the Middle East would lead to the very thing we are seeing today. They really do have an awful lot to answer for.

Couldn't agree more. Fat chance though. Our President and Secretary of State are more likely to send the Rebels and Saudi even more money. They don't know their ass from their elbow and the topic of climate change is a much bigger problem in their eyes.

Obama has just as much to answer for. Agree or disagree with what was going on, telling your enemy when you're leaving is a STUPID way to prosecute a war. You can pin a great deal of the blame on him for the power vacuum left in the area after we pulled out.

All very good points... It is very worrying that the West keeps getting involved in Arab politics, when (other) Arab powers do not... The "west" (ie the US) are involved for oil and strategic positioning. This has been, almost hardwired, American Middle Eastern policy since the 60's. They either need to get out of there altogether, which means abandoning their oil interests in the region, or they need to go back to letting the "right" people control the situation on the ground. This unfortunately means letting the likes of Hussain, Assad, Gaddafi and what have you run their nations and for the US to not interfere in the fashion that they have been doing. Because they have continually screwed things up every time. One only has to look at the mess that Iraq, Libya and Syria are because of American intervention. All three areas are a hornets nest.
