AICN doesn't like Elm Street remake

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I've seen several negative reviews now. Looks like this one is yet another cheap remake for a quick buck.

Harry (AICN) seems to like it (the new one) though http://www.aintitcool.com/node/44860

I've got to agree with Tricky. Although I don't straight up hate it, the original is nothing special really. It just came at the right time.

The original when released on video was one of those films that was discussed eagerly in hushed groups when I was at school by kids that were far too young to be watching it (around 11 years old), and it had an almost legendary status, but I didnt actually see it till I was in my late teens/early 20's by which time the effects had dated horribly & I'd figured out the difference between good & bad acting, so I just found it laughable!
