    Zombies and Society.

Zombie films related to social upheavel?

It's interesting, as Romero always said he tries to base his zombie films off the current state of the nation ect.

However its interesting to see it in a graph form. The inclusion of mummy's and that sort of rubbish discredits it a bit. I dunno...

Horror movie wax and wan in popularity, and I'm pretty they generally increase in number during times of increased social tension.

I'm not convinced that there is a connection. I think movies of all genres have increased over time as movie techniques got better, and more money could be made off of producing them.

I found a website with a chart showing a steadily rising number of horror movies produced from 1979 to the present. It's kind of hard to tell whether or not there's a linkage between horror flicks and social upheaval since the whole 20th-21st has been a roll coaster ride of wars, economic failures, and other disasters.

Here's another link to a blog that states horror flicks spike during bear markets on Wall Street!
