    Possible homage to Zombi 2?

I was trawling through a bunch of old eighties pop videos when I found this oddity by Duran Duran. It's called 'Waiting For The Night Boat' (I've never heard of it until now) and it looks like it could be a homage to Zombi 2/Zombie Flesh Eaters. What do you reckon?

Oh I'd say that's a definite reference to Zombi 2 ... maybe a bit of Zombi 3 stylistically event, depending on the releases of the song and that movie though of course, but aye, I totally see Zombi 2 in that video. Nice find, Sir.

Video was done in 1981. Directed by Russell Mulcahy too.

The zombies have a similar look, too. Definate homage.

I would say so. Some of those scens look like they would fit right into the film.

Most definitely an homage! I had never heard or seen this one before.

    Good spotting, Cap!

When I first watched this I instantly noticed the little things like the crabs crawling along the sand, and the bit where Simon LeBon is singing between some palm trees with a house behind it - reminded me of Dr Menard's house in Zombi 2. The whole Caribbean setting is a dead giveaway.

The biggest references though were the scenes on the deserted boat (too many: John Taylor crawling up the wooden steps in the hull, the part with the closet, and most of all the boat's appearance - manky old white sails, etc) and the zombies themselves. They look almost identical to the ones in the film!

Nor me and it's a bit of a strange one, innit?

    Another odd....

Dawn of the Dead Pop music ref comes from the Emo band "My Chemical Romance"

Late dawns and early sunsets, just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands and life was perfect, just like up on the screen
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living

Up and down escalators, pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales, trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you'd change from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight

    But does anyone notice?
    But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And well should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
    Before I pull this trigger,
    Your eyes vacant and stained...

    But does anyone notice?
    But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
And would anything matter if you're already dead?
And now should I be shocked by the last thing you said?
    Before I pull this trigger,
    Your eyes vacant and stained...
And in saying you loved me,
    Made things harder at best,
    And these words changing nothing
    As your body remains,
And there's no room in this hell,
There's no room in the next,
    And our memories defeat us,
    And I'll end this direst.

    But does anyone notice?
    But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But does anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
    Before I pull this trigger,
    Your eyes vacant and stained...
And in saying you loved me,
    Made things harder at best,
    And these words changing nothing
    As your body remains,
And there's no room in this hell,
There's no room in the next,
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?
