    another Q about Japanese horror.....

I've noticed in a few of these there is the use of red tape being placed over the crevices of windows, doors and other "openings"; it's meant to keep out evil spirits. Any clue what the full story of the superstition is? I've tried Google but have come up with nothing.

Drafts of cold air are associated with hauntings and spirits in quite a number of cultures. Since tape is ofen used around windows and such to prevent drafts, you can make something of a connection. I've not heard of any specifically Japanese superstitions along these lines, however.

I finially found a link explaining some things dealing with the color red and it's use against evil spirits so, putting those two together makes sense. I was just curious if there was an ancient Japanese superstition anyone knew of.
