    Ben Hur (film) - Remake

Yes... They're actually trying to remake one of the greatest films ever made! Brave or stupid?

    http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/new-...wallace-novel/

MGM is buying a Ben-Hur spec by Keith Clarke (he scripted the Peter Weir-directed The Way Back), and the package comes with Sean Daniel and Joni Levin attached to produce, and Clarke and Jason Brown exec producing.

Bet this does not get made!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Yes, 1907 and 1925 silent versions... If I recall the filming of the 1925 version resulted in the death of animals and people!

I'm not expecting much, but i'll give it it's day in court. The 59 version is one of my favorite films and no matter how many further remakes they churn out, that version will always remain the classic that it is.

I keep meaning to get it on bluray, but never quite get around to it, or working out which is the version to get!

    It's still on it's way - http://www.deadline.com/2013/09/timu...cting-ben-hur/

I first reported last month that MGM was courting Wanted helmer Timur Bekmambetov to helm Ben-Hur. I have now confirmed that the helmer and the studio have closed their deal for him to direct a new adaptation of the 1880 Lew Wallace novel Ben-Hur: A Tale Of The Christ, which in its time outsold every book but the Bible until it was eclipsed by Gone With The Wind. MGM bought a Ben-Hur spec by Keith Clarke (he scripted the Peter Weir-directed The Way Back). Sean Daniel and Joni Levin are producing, with Clarke and Jason Brown exec producing.
