More Elder Scrolls V talk

It seems as is the games gamer's want never get made. We have RE 4, Awesome game. And what do we get for a follow up? The Crapfest they call RE 5. Now they make perhaps the best rpg I've ever played in Oblivion and they follow it up with an MMO!?! Have these people ever heard to sticking with what works!?! On while we're on it WTF ever happened to REVAN MAN !?! I mean the just dumped the whole KOTOR thing apparently , huh? I know I'm ranting but this is bullshit. Let me collect my thoughts and I'll comment at a later time. Rant ova.

Now they make perhaps the best rpg I've ever played in Oblivion and they follow it up with an MMO!?! Have these people ever heard to sticking with what works!?! Well it's not set in stone yet but yeah, I don't entertain MMO's. First it was the Shenmue series. Two fantastic games and then Yu Suzuki decides to make an MMO (which is still unfinished), not fucking interested. I want to see Ryo leave the cave that he's been stuck in since 2000. Then... On while we're on it WTF ever happened to REVAN MAN !?! I mean the just dumped the whole KOTOR thing apparently , huh? While this MMO looks exciting, I'm just not into MMO's. I get tired playing on Live after four hours and I prefer gaming by myself for ten. What happened to Revan, man? Good question. As for an Elder Scrolls MMO, I really don't know. If it was made, you know it will be shit hot. But if the game is £40, it's an extra £40 to play it for a year. That will piss off a lot of fans. I think they should chip away at V quietly and maybe release some more DLC for IV. They let us down in that department big time. How about a whole new storyline concerning a vampire and set all the gameplay at night? A real challenge. Really make it a satanic bastard of a game (ala Dark Brotherhood) and give us a few new areas that exist outside of the map. Just an idea.

As we have seen it's much easier for devolpers to periodically release relatively small chunks of dlc than to make a new game, that's a given. No one can really explain why they HAVEN'T released more dlc for Oblivion. Even though it was pretty much hit and miss, imo they established a formula for what works. The horse armor crap, fuggeddaboutit. The different homes and castles you can buy, they were cool but a bit too expensive for my taste. ( Yes I bought them anyway. ) The Knights of the nine and Shivering Isles expansions were great and I'd shell out another 30 bucks for an expansion similar to that. The idea you had was great and illustrates the tons of untapped potential that game still has.

dammint, i've still got to finish "mothership zeta" on fallout 3, but as soon as that's done, i'm gonna dig into elder scrolls iv....right now, i'm currently in the process of moving and my sexbox, tv, and games, are all scattered about and i've got lots of unpacking yet to do...but after recently watching conan the barbarian, i've got a jonesing for busting heads open with an axe. mmo's are something i've never really gotten around to trying, but they don't sound all that appealing to me, honestly.

The Knights of the nine and Shivering Isles expansions were great and I'd shell out another 30 bucks for an expansion similar to that. The idea you had was great and illustrates the tons of untapped potential that game still has. I've spoken about my support for the existing DLC with IV but horse armour? A castle? Some pirate ship? It's nice and all but once you've spent an hour exploring, it's fucking useless. The two main DLC's (Knights Of The Nyne and Shimmering Isles) were great but you can zip through those in just a few hours. They don't even have to set the vampire story (or any other story) in a new area or somewhere off the map. There is so much unused space in IV. It would only be a matter of placing 20 or so new NPC's in random areas, a few new items in the stores and maybe a bit of extra dialogue. That's it! Not exactly asking for blood is it? <groan> Would take no more than a couple of months and a good 12 hour game could be had. IV still has a lot to give.

I don't buy the fact that they haven't got any plans for Elder Scrolls V. That's just the usual bullshit that they have to feed the press until they're ready to show something up. Elder Scrolls V is coming, and it's probably gonna be kick ass... Just like the previous titles! Besides, Bethesda has also registered the title "Skyrim"... So, there you go.

They should ask lucas how his mmo turned out. Good point though. It happens to almost every franchise. The developers are under mandate to change the formula in order to appeal to a wider audience, thus making more money. This has the nasty little side affect of alienating the hardcore fans that have been there all along. Yes, the RE franchise was a painful illustration of this for me.

Firstly: I am such a popular non-geek that I had to look up MMO online... Secondly, I can vouch for my future popularity by proclaiming NEVER to get involved in a game like that. Thirdly, I just bought Oblivion...and I love it...its the most awesomest thing ever... Fourthly, after that revelation my popularity has taken a nose dive...

I really don't know what my cashflow is going to be like from one month to the next, like a lot of people in the current climate, so if Bethesda wants me to buy a game that I have to pay a fucking subscription for, they can forget about it.

Well, it seems to me that bethesda has been trying to find new and improved ways to gouge loyal gamers since download #1 A.K.A.: Horse Armor !?! But yeah, although oblivion is time consuming in it's own right it's no where near the social life killer that mmo's are. You can play it at your own pace and not miss anything. Shit, I'm still working my way through dungeons and ayleidruins man. Charging a subscription, please, What do they think they are? A porn site? Atleast that's a cost I could justify.

Seems Bethesda are more interested in Fallout at the moment and that it's gonna be quite some time until Elder Scrolls V. (Todd) Howard took a few questions from the audience but didn't give out much info on their future projects, saying only, "We are working on our next big game but we are not talking about it." Don't look a new Elder Scrolls game in the near future; Howard said there are no current plans for an "Elder Scrolls 5." As far as an Elders Scrolls based MMO, he said in jest, "There's always a chance." He gave no new info on the third party developed Fallout: New Vegas, due out next year.
