    Okay, what is a muttonbird?

I expect not to understand the Brits' slang, but Ohio is practically right next door.

a muttonbird is a slang word that my friends and i used to use (i think lots of groups of friends develop slang particular to their group) that meant someone who was causing trouble, creating a scene or making an ass of themselves in a public place.

it is also a real life seabird native to new zealand and australia.

one of my close friends lived in new zealand for a time and he might be the one who introduced this word among us like some other new zealand slang like: hoon, hungus, and chunder.

there is a band from new zealand named the muttonbirds so that is the most likely explanation as to its origin among us. they do the version of "don't fear the reaper" at the end of the frighteners.
