have a ganders at my latest poi'chus'!

well its been a very long time coming but finally i dont have to share those filthy choclate covered cameras from uni with everyone else, because ive gone from this:

    TO THIS!

its a SONY HVR-V1E camcorder, my first pro level camcorder thats actually mine and not borrowed from uni. so now i can actually film at my lesiure, rather than taking a ticket and hope that the bastard who checked the only hd one out might bring it back when he said he woudl.

    they never do.

-but ranting aside i got it with 3 hd dv tapes thrown in, a schweet case for £80 and a long life battery to boot.

though at £3100 its the most expensive thing ive ever owned so im going to be paranoid for a while before i try it out.

p.s: thats the price for the lot, the camera itself was around £2000, which is pretty reasonable considering ive seen it on some sites for 3 times that.

£3100 for the lot, but the camera was £2000 - what was the other grand spent on then?

Tripod, shotgun mic, tapes, battery ... but that's not a grand ... ... it was German dungeon porn, wasn't it? Either that, or custom-made just for you, Scott Pilgrim pornography ... ya dirty fecker.

Also - noiiice - although I'm still a gigantic proponent of the DVX100B, regardless of the fact it's 'only' SD.

Make sure you get insurance on that though - I've got mine insured - with such a big purchase, and a big layout, it'd be silly to not have it insured. So get on that straight away...and even then, guard it with your life.

That's how I am with my DVX - it almost never leaves my sight, and when it does it's under lock and key, or with someone I trust in a trusted area...when in-hand, it's clutched like a baby ... because, well, it is my baby ... but more like how people call their girlfriend's "baby", because my DVX100B is a sexy bitch, oh yeah.

    ...

Man, I remember getting my DVX, bringing it home, unpacking it ... I just had it all set up on the tripod with the mic in and everything for a month just standing there when it wasn't being used, like a trophy or something, hehe.

It's such a nice feeling, but aye, I know what you mean - you feel so cautious with a brand new toy such as that, especially one so expensive ... but then you get comfortable with it, and your fingers get accustomed to the buttons and you can fly around it quite quickly ... ... after a bit of time with the manual, mind you.

I am the same way with my Equipment. I WILL NOT LOAN IT OUT. I will bring to be used, as long as I am present, and the rule is, you break it you bought it.

I love my DVX100B, which turns 2 next week. However, I am also falling in love with the HVX series cams, and I am seriously thinking of scooping one up for future projects.

To think my film career started with a GL1, then went to a DVX100, then to a DVX100B. Now if I could just get my cinematography up to snuff I would happy.

Nobody but me touches my DVX100B.

When I get a new camera, somewhere down the line, I'd most likely go to the HVX straight off the bat as I've been so impressed (and love) the DVX100B.

My DVX is about 2 and a half now - got it in October 2006, if memory serves. Amazing how time flies.

Minion, while I am falling for the HVX, I hear the Canon's are better cameras, but for true PQ (Picture Quality) nothing beats a RED. Now if they would just be affordable I would buy a red.

Well, who knows what will have come out by the time I'm ready for a new camera ... but importantly, the DVX100B is it for me right now.

    It's such a sexy bitch.

my only problem with canon is the battery life, my handycam had a 20 minute tops life, my new cam was filming on one battery for over 500 minutes and it still had half a charge.

fyi, energizer L series, NOT the sony ones wich cost over 100 fucking quid!
