Then Resurrection came along. THAT is a sequel that should have never happened...
Alien is certainly fodder if we throw out the immediate sequel. I have never comes to terms with Alien 3, but it's not bad enough to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Anything after that is seriously, "Why???!!"

I am also one of those that has difficulty classifying Alien and especially Aliens as horror. They wind up as sci-fi/suspense/thriller to me. I don't disagree if someone says they're horror, but I think it's tenuous at best. You could make the same argument on Event Horizon and several others. At some point you're asking if Lost in Space (Matt Le Blanc travesty) falls into horror as well.

I think the first film can be classified as a horror first and a thriller second. The second film, Aliens is an action movie at it's core. There are still a few horror-ish moments, but the overall experience is an action film. Alien 3 then takes it back to horror in that sort of despair and isolation. The theatrical cut of 3 isn't so great, but the Assembly cut really comes close to what could have been. Great trilogy. Then Resurrection just fucks it all up for no good reason other than money....

The fourth "Aliens" flick at least had my future girlfriend Winona Ryder in it... so it wasn't a complete loss.

Anything with my girl Winona in it automatically gets a thumbs up (and that's not the only thing) from me.

Otherwise, it completely sucked. I can't think of anything else redeeming about the fourth Aliens flick -- watching it right after the first 3 flicks is like a "huh?" moment.

Answer to original question: none of them, unless its part of a trilogy.
Innocent victims of merciless crimes, fall prey to some madman's impulsive designs.

Step after step we try controlling our fate. When we finally start living, it's become too late.

That would be most of them then.

I can't think of many that stopped at 3.

Alien 4 - written by Joss Wheadon, Directed by Jean Pierre Juenet.

By all clues, it should have worked.

    Except that it didn't.

Let's not forget Weaver's contract agreements. She had to have sex with an alien, and there had to be a alien/human hybrid.

Exactly why I want to know how he convinced Marvel to trust him with their holy grail, The Avengers. He's directed one film and they're trusting him with their biggest franchise?

Who attempted to rip on "Dawn" and/or "Day" and who 'trolled' exactly?

I did when I jokingly typed no sequels after Night ' 68. Even though I am fond of the original trilogy.

I dunno, I just kinda liked it. And it had the B-movie Baldwin in it, which is a total horror win.
I like that film as well, it could almost be happening in the same universe as "from dusk til dawn" too with the general look/feel of it, if you look it up anywhere on the net it gets bad reviews, but I enjoyed it!

    Is it that obvious?

Seriously though, we all have guilty pleasures when it comes to movies. I think there was a thread on that a while back.

Those just happen to be mine.
