"Day of the Dead" Musical Cues in "Tales From the Darkside"

I've been recently watching all 4 seasons of "Tales from the Darkside" and a few episodes have actually stood out from the mostly mediocre ones as being really damn good.

I was watching an episode earlier called "The Satanic Piano" (made in '85 from the second season) and was blown away to discover quite a few musical cues from John Harrison (who did the music for "Day" as well as this episode) that are instantly recognizable from "Day". I just thought it was entertaining.

The episode is available on Youtube for watching. It's not difficult to spot the cues as much of the music from Harrison appeared in "Day". Honestly, it's making me want to go back and watch other eps from the series just for the musical side to see if I can spot this in other episodes as well.

    Good catch, JD!

I still love that opening theme music. Creepyest @#$%-ing opening credits, ever.

(With the possible exception of the short-lived "Darkroom" :

That video is made pure awesomeness just from the voice-over by James Coburn.

I think Miley Cyrus will probably sound like him in another 5 years or so, she's got to smoke at least a good 5-packs every day.

I was always fond of the opening of "The Hitchhiker" as it always freaked me out as a kid:

No, a musical 'Day' would be the work of my puppet crew.

I've been playing with an idea for a short musical parody in a Kid's Show format called "Sarah and the Bunker Bunch".
