    World War Z (film)

    http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Param...elp-23793.html

Apparently Paramount still believes the movie could work, but not quite enough to sink the full required $125 million into making it happen.
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. PG-13?

They might as well drop it, then, cause I just lost my interest.

According to Vulture the studio is looking for some deep-pocketed investors to help them foot the bill for the film, which would be a PG-13 rated giant action movie...
Let's hope that's just cynical speculation.

Hmmm.... PG-13? Sounds like a sanitized apocalypse for a mass market Twilight type audience. If they're not going to do it properly then they shouldn't really bother. I mean the detail of the book was part of what made it such a fascinating read - can you imagine the stinking hell of the battle of Yonkers stripped down for an early teens audience? Also sounds like they're planning to deviate massively from the book, not normally one to panic but... jeez... c'mon.

    Paramount. Ass. In gear. Now!

    Ugh, PG-13?

If they do that, what they should do is film proper R-Rated versions of the pussified scenes - and release a more-than-PG-13 cut theatrically in places like the UK so we can take advantage of the 15 rating, which allows for enough box office, but also "fucks" and grue.

Then for DVD and BR, release a proper version of the flick with all the swearing and gore as-it-should-be.

If they're not willing to do that at least, then they shouldn't bother at all. You can't target this story at ruddy tweens for god's sake.

i'd like the echo the sentiments that a PG-13 WWZ can fuck right off. surely, max brooks wouldn't allow his book to be watered-down and marketed towards teeny-boppers.....

    Yeah, PG-13 can suck it.
Pretty steep pricetag for something that could only be done right with an R rating, I admit. But at least they have Pitt, and, unless it just plain sucks, it'd make good dough on the dvd back end of it.
If I had 50 million to spare, I'd give 'er...
Of course, I get the obligatory zombie cameo. That's all I want.

WWZ done in PG-13? Well, gore and cussing does not the story make, the content of the story does. So, hell, if they can tell a good story -- that's what matters regardless of the rating. And furthermore, gore does not a horror film make. Only "horror" films with weak stories have to rely on this to undercut the fact they don't have a story worth telling.

No doubt, they'll pull a special "Unrated Cut" of the film out that will have an additional whopping 3 minutes of footage not in the theatrical cut like they (studios) are prone to regularly do these days.

    Roger Ebert is a pussy.
He also didn't like one of my favorite movies of all time: European Gigolo.
    What up with that?

And sorry, I want gore. Leave sex out of it, please. But I need to see some feasting.
Should I read the book? I've never seen it around.

It looks like Re-Kill will eat this films lunch way before they even shoot scene #1.
Same premise all put on film without slipping bags of dough in rights to Mel Brooks son under the table.
Zombie media saturation point and bank-rollers hesitation to fund makes theaters "a dead place,...Billy boy".
Studios are leveraged to the hilt and blowing their wad on specialist fantasy films if you look at Limitless
as any expectation of things going forward.
3-d's added price premium isn't going to save Hollyweird from box office doldrums.

last i recall, they did purchase the rights...surely if mr. pitt believes in the project enough, he'd be more willing to invest a bit more of his fortune to see it take off....

oh wait, breaking news: angelina holie wants to adopt yet another foreign baby and lavish it with ridiculous amounts of designer clothing and gifts....nevermind....
