I hear it's the mad cow that gives British beef its extra zing, but I've never heard about Brit bacon being really good till now!

Fortunately our cows haven't been mad for a long, long time now - that outbreak in the 90s was rough for the meat industry in this country, but fortunately all-is-well and British beef is delicious - just like British bacon. Ooh, my mouth's watering for a bacon roll ... oh well, a lush Twix Caramel Slice will have to suffice (and suffice it shall, for they are also lush!)

Well, let's just say I haven't sought it out, but I can't say I've ever seen it around. Sad, isn't it? I need some HAM right about now..

I do believe we get 'American style bacon' over here - i.e. fatty and crispy - and we also get "Danish bacon" which gets a good reputation, but which is filled with so much water, that when you fry it it all sizzles away (the sizzle is part of their marketting, too) and you get this comparatively shrivelled-up wee naffy bit of bacon.
Geez, that's no good. I'll cross "danish bacon" off my list of wants.

British bacon can also be made crispy and have edible fat on it - you just fry it for longer ... ...
Ok, you're winning me over, I'm intrigued...

although not as long as I used to do in first year uni, when I'd practically cremate the stuff (and get numerous fat burns on my arms as the juices spat everywhich way ) ...
    Curiosity fading....

Where was I? Oh yes - British bacon - it's lush, Sir - you should try it.
Easy to get distracted when talking about bacon, isn't it?

If I can find it, I promise I will try it and report back to ya MZ. I just have no idea where to get it, and I'd feel strange walking into a restuarant and asking, "hey, you - ya got any British bacon? No, not that american slices of fat, BRITISH BACON!" I think I'd probably get some weird looks.

Or they'd look at you with pride, for they'd know you were a coinoisseur of the heavenly meat that is bacon.

I guarantee Lou's first attempt to purchase said bacon will end up as...

"Sorry, sir, we don't have any Canadian bacon."

    "I. Said. BRITISH. Bacon."

Hey Lou, ever heard of Jan Fabre.
He is a Belgian artist who at one time during the nineties covered a row of pillars at the entrance of a building in Ghent with bacon.
Needless to say there was some controversy. The fact that after a couple of days the whole street smelled of dead meat probably didn't help.

Oh wow! That's enlightening and creepy all at the same time!

I can only imagine the smell a few days after it was put up. *shudders*

i'm surprised that every rat in europe didn't make a road trip for this one. i can hear the rat stories now, "in Belgium they have entire buildings made of bacon." (gasps from the young rats in the audience.)

OMG, PC, I Tivo'd that show a few days back and just got a chance to watch it last night - that BLT was INSANE! They said there was a minimum of 1lb of bacon on the sandwich (20-25 strips! HOLY BACON, BATMAN! *drools*)

I also posted this in the shout box, but I feel it should be here too: I have finally found religion and became a member of a church. "What religion?" you might ask? Allow me to enlighten you:
