    Dude....

You put this large disclaimer in your post that your statements are only your opinion so that you don't get any slack for it, yet you throw insults like "silly fanboys" and "pathetic" to other people because of their opinion...

Seriously though, how did he make you more open-minded about the world you live in?

Sorry, the large "*" was relating to my opinions on his films, I should have made that more clear.

The rest of what I wrote is fact.

i'm with you all the way here paul. i love his work as a director but don't really find much inspiration in him or anything that has caused me to have some grand epiphany about the world.

it's people like sextus pompey, marcus cicero, john brown, leonidas of sparta, etc. - people who laid it all down on the line and gave it all up for the simple idea of freedom- regardless of the cost, that should inspire us.

or people like democritus, empedocles, darwin, kelvin, gallileo, champollion, kepler, etc - people who have used their brains and massive intellects to understand the world as it - a process of nature and not of the supernatural.

i am strongly of the opinion that it is these kinds of folks that should be looked up to NOT actors, directors, musicians, etc.

I see it as a Living Dead fan site and Dead-trilogy fan site. I love the general ideas/mythos that Romero created (flesh-eating zombies, social collapse, fellow man is the most dangerous creature etc), but he, as a person, is uninspiring.

I personally would not call him a hero or inspirations and definitely agree with scipio 70 on the kind of people we should give that title to. Unless you are an artist of sorts and then to claim them as an inspiration is reasonable to me. However, I would like to say that admire Romero for blending social commentary in to his horror films because I think most of the genera tends to lack this element.
