Heheh you must live in southern VA....(Im in VA too but just a stones throw out of DC)...

Usually the thing I hear most from confederate flag supporters addressing is that the war was more about State rights than it was about Slavery....slavery was more of a galvenizing agent.... but whatever.... History is written by the winners.... so it was about slavery...and its hard to go anywhere and not equate the Confederate flag with racist type mentalities....

Everyone has a history that shows inhuman brutality, even the Turks.

Do you guys really think I'm turkish? I'm from indiana and in the US army, I just always had a thing for the turks.

Armenian genocide was horrible, and does'nt get as much attention as it deserves. I think Armenia and Turkey are still at odds over it.

No problem here, sir. Just saying that folks today aren't responsible for the atrocities of the past. And just as someone sporting a Turkish flag does not necessarily mean that they supported Armenian genocide, the same could be said for others who sport different flags.

That being said, I doubt Andy will be adding the confederate flag.

Jesus, exa..lighten up...who lit the fire under your tush, brother?

Chaos, you can't get a Confederate flag because the flag choices are by COUNTRY, otherwise I'd be flying the keystone flag of PA.

That being said; I firmly believe the south could rise again...Hell, with Viagra, anything is possible

It was a war about a States right to have slaves. So it's both. And more but it is all tied to the issue beginning with the Kansas Nebraska Act. The South fired first and then they lost. If they didn't attack Fort Sumner it might have dragged to maybe never start. And the South had concentration camp AND slaves so stop acting like they were poor victims. Civil War is always nasty and the last Civil War veteran died in about 1920.
And Lincoln didnt halt habeus corpus in the CSA because it was an independant country.
Funny how people say it's not a racist flag than support an apartheid govt that ceased to exist like 145 or so years ago. It's a nice looking flag and all, but c'mon with that corny Foghorn Leghorn yankee stuff. Thats just about 50 years out of date. and the CSN lasted for only about 4 years anyway. I don't think it's neccasrily a flag of racist, but the racists sure love it so.
Damn Know Nothings. Tiippecanoe and Tyler too!
    Remember the MAINE!
I want the flag of Mesopotamia or the Soviet Flag or the flag of South Vietnam, or the Roman Empire...

Well guys, take it from someone who lives in Tennessee and sees that damn disgrace of a flag all the time.

The common thing heard around here is "It's not racial, it's historical" and that usually comes from someone who has just called a black person a n!gger!

In today's world, the confederate flag means one thing and one thing only, racism!! You WILL NOT be able to fly a confed flag without being accused of it, even if it's not your intention! That is the society we live in.

As far as I am concerned that is what it is as well.

On the slavery thing, remember, Lincoln was only following his religion.

We all now how Christianity advocates slavery, have you read the Old Testament lately??

Yeah I live in Northern VA....so seeing the Confederate Flag is a semi rare...Southern VA its much more common....

But when one sees someone sporting the Confederate Flag in my area of northern VA I think the overwhelming majority of all people just grin or laugh... because its like walking around with a sign that says:
    "Lookie Here, Im an Idiot!"

I own a Confederate and proudly salute it. It has to do with my Southern heritage and pride not racism. The flag that is viewed as a racist flag was a battle flag. I'm sick and tried of KKK, Arians, and black extremists giving my flag a bad rap. The Civil War wasn't based entirely on slavery.

    And how old are you??

There it is!!! Heritage, not Racism. Gimme a break! I was born and raised in TN and the LAST thing I want standing for my southern heritage is a symbol of hatred and racism. I wouldn't wipe my ass with a confed flag!!

I am neither KKK, Arian, or a black extremist. Far from it actually, in fact am married to a minority.

Yes, the confed flag stands for one thing and one thing only!!!!

Yeah I always get a good chuckle out of that "states rights" deal too... states rights to keep and own slaves apparently.

What in the hell does my age have to do with anything?! And I'll say it again. My f#cking heritage and pride! Not racism! Not everyone who owns a rebel flag believes in racism. Just forget it. I'm not going to argue this any further. Not worth my time. Later.
