It's gonna be the 360 game with rough graphics and tacked-on motion sensing controls, that's it. And what was wrong with the structure of the original? I could see somebody having a problem with the save system, but I actually like how it forced you to decide which survivors you wanted to rescue.

If you found the 360 version boring, I don't understand how waving the controller around in the air is gonna make it any more fun.

to be honest i think most people raving about the controls dont know how the wii remote works. there expecting some exact mimics of there movements when the wii isnt giving off anything at all, its an advanced camera reading information and relaying it on its location on an xyz axis its either left right up or down, distance doesn't matter at all. i know some guys who have worked on wii game sand theyve said how surprised they were at just how basic it is and how little input you actually are required to do for anything in a wii game. unless it works with the upcoming wii+ remote expect crappy "shakes the wiimote to waggle off the zombie" type controls which have already been implemented in fatal frame 4 or resident evil 4 wii edition.

Meh, just looked smaller somehow in that video on IGN, and all the Wii-wiggling just looks naff, gimme a joypad for that thank you very much - or indeed a mouse and WSAD, but as it's 360 - joypad.

I was generally just totally "meh" about that entire video, it seems that hellsing's jadery can be catching.

The Wii version seems to be a more structured series of events that need to be accomplished in a particular order, not discovered or overly sought out. It sounds like it'll play out more like a RE4 game, which I have no problem with. I don't mind shaking the wiimote to get zombies off of me, it worked great in RE4. I also like the idea of zapper like gun controls.

I think I'm in agreement with Axl. I would much rather see a more structured version of the game with Wii controls. I played 15 mins of the 360 version and felt it was repetitive and cumbersome.

I already have the original and I shall definitely buy the Wii edition on top, same as RE4.

The latest video under 'update' looks very interesting especially the end. It confirms Ashleys AI is being used in the survivors (notice when Frank pointed the gun at her, that girl ducked rather then push or say "no way.") and theres running zombies very reminiscent of the infected in Left 4 Dead, many 360 moves have been added.
I'll bet we can expect the cult and special forces act more like the Ganados in RE4 too, in fact the cult could easy be like the zeolots and the SF the militia, though only on higher difficulty.

gotta agree with mz, i think they should've left the runners out of it.

are non-running zombies going the way of the dinosaur? seems like everything remotely zombie related (28 days/weeks, left 4 dead, now dead rising wii) are using runners.

i hope world war z comes along and does an outstanding job of re-introducing america and "generation A.D.D" to the stumbling, shambling ghouls of the original romero trilogy.

I am sure the running zombies are a mini game, I saw another vid like this which ended with Frank being owerwhelmed by them and a large red font appeared reading 'Quests End'.

Did anyone else give this a rent?
I was really disappointed and feel there was a missed opportunity to merge the best aspects of both Resident Evil 4 and the original Dead Rising.
Okay so hundreds of zombies on screen is impossible on a Wii but just over a hundred? maybe not for a game running on the RE4 engine like this but thats it.
The game plays like RE4 and has the comic atmosphere of Dead Rising but it is really repetitiive, the enemy layout seldom varies and there's only zombies with the occasional boss zombie, poodles, parrots and cultists to contend with. Worse still the zombies fade in right in front of you, you can clear them out with a shotgun and new ones spawn in.
I think removing the time management was a mistake, Dead Rising worked like Zelda: Majoras Mask where there's a three day time limit and different things that can go on each day. You have to be at a set point for the story to proress and theres survivors who appear in places needing rescued. I can do them all, I am sure other skilled players can to with good management but this version makes all the survivor escorts mandetory things to do in between the missions, they are timed but the clocks ticking with you rather then against you.
Gunplay is cool with the IR pointer, it plays like RE4 but gun selection has been assigned to the D-pad like RE5 and you automatically collect ammo and money when you run over it. They narrowed down what you can pick up to mash enemies you still get axes, knives, katanas and boss weapons (minus the stun gun and machete).
also while the developers said the enemies are tougher, they aren't there's new types but whats changed is that there's invisible walls in the form of red rope barriers and you can bo longer jump or access plants or water ways.
It was really made for the japs who didn't like the original for varying reasons I am hoping a sequel for this console returns to the GTA form of gameplay.

I bought it and played it for a bit and enjoyed what I played. The part that pissed me off the most was the roped off areas and the water. The zeds could have been handled better but the level of difficulty is still there. I've been playing way to much Dr. Mario online to devote any time to this, or any other game.

got my brother and his wife a wii for their wedding gift, i think i may end up renting this one for him...although he's not a big zombie fan, i think he'd probably like it well enough.

but what game he's pretty stoked about (me too) is the punch-out remake for the wii.

Can you use the gamecube controller like RE4 on the Wii?
