Andy, don't jump right into it. That's the beauty of this game. You don't HAVE to follow the story line. Talk to other people, do other side-quests. Level up a bunch. I didn't go to GNR Radio until I was like a level 10 and by that point Super Mutants are actually really FUN to fight.

Since Hells says there's nothing to do once you're done the story, I think I'm going to hurry up and finish it so I can trade it in while it's still worth a decent amount of money (and get Left 4 Dead).
I Actually really enjoy RPG's when their done right, i absolutly love mass effect and still play it now, same with fable 2, im really enjoyin that an getting into it.

But sorry guys i just cant get into fallout..

That's funny... I'm finding Mass Effect a real chore! Go here, do that... Go there, shoot them...

What are you not enjoying about Fallout 3?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I was annoyed with how short the main story line was, could have stretched it out about twice as long with the number of areas.

Altough completed I'm gonna go back to an earlier save as one of the perks I saw for level 18 (I think) was explorer, which unlocks all the areas on the map.

Therefore I will still have hours of fun checking out the areas I missed.

Oh, and those of you who have not used their V.A.T.S yet are missing out! when you have an enemy in sight press 'v' and like in the old Fallout games you can pick what areas to shoot with a percentage of how successful you will be hitting it. I said it before and I say it again, Head Asplode FTW!!

The more you know: Dogmeat and the Fallout games were influenced by the film 'A Boy and his Dog' which can be watched here.

I watched a bit of it and it is certainly weird, just the kind of weird I bet most of us like.

How long did it take you to complete it?

Not bein funny but if you're finding fallout amazingly hard you're either not using V.A.T.S or you are genuinely **** at games. The games far from immensely hard, albeit if you're new to the series it might seem a bit daunting cause of the scale but its far from a hard game.

It sucks when there's a type of game that you love, in this case oblivion for me, and you would like to have the experience again but they just won't make another one. Fallout 3 is very similar to oblivion and that's probably the only reason i'll play it.

By the reviews on this board it sounds like a rent to me.

Not too sure, I think I may have skipped a bit of it.

When you get the quest to go to the radio station I didn't bother and began to wander. I ended up in Rivet City and picked up the main quest line for there, which closed the radio station quest.

From there I'd say it was about 3-5 hours worth, depending on the speed you do it in.

That's the most rediculous thing I've ever heard of. All quests should remain active until you finish them. That's not open ended play at all. You're being forced into a linear progression.

Huh? I think you misunderstood him. It IS completely open-ended. In fact, there are multiple ways you can finish quests, and that's why his quest happened to end when he went and did some things at a different location than he was supposed to be at.

Bull****. Nobodys forced anyone on me YET. This game is totally non-linear.

So far, I dare say it's the best damn RPG I've had the pleasure of playing since... Well... I can't even remember!

The previous quest was to get information on your Dad, the one I picked up gave me a quest for the location of said Dad so the previous quest was immaterial and therefore not required.

I still got the XP/Achievement from it though.

I'm getting this game instead of Dead Space.

Oblivions main quest was shooooort. Although Oblivion was awesome, I'm excited to play a modern (kinda futurestic time set) RPG.

Final Fantasy 3/6 and Chrono Trigger are the best damn RPGs ever made though. Yeah I said it.

    Good stuff, Sir.

I wanna get my mits into Fallout 3 sometime soon, but I'll be planning on doing so on the PC - however that's not gonna be here now until the beginning of January.

In the meantime though, I've got my fingies crossed for Gears of War 2.
