Yeah, because there are so many 13-17 year olds clamoring to get into "The Kings Speech". Me personally, I would prefer they release the unrated version with all the gore & nudity intact.

I hear that the PG13 version tanked by about 50% in it's first week of release. Anyway....they did release both versions. Which is just silly.

What's silly is that studios make production decisions based on "projected" box office figures based on the movies rating.
One need go no farther than common sense to realize that Hollywood's "Tween Broadening" campaign is idiocy. Why?
Simply put, the motion picture industry got along famously long before studios were crafting movies with surgical-precision-targeted viewer demographics.
What's happening today is just another symptom of the money men wanting to make more Sure Things. Ie: Derivative crap.

I genuinely look forward to the day when Hollywood runs out of old classic novels to adapt for the screen...and popular old 80s movies to re-adapt. The 90s sucked so much its not like they can repeat the process with its slew of movies. Remake of Waterworld, The Fugitive or U.S Marshals, anyone?

Are Paramount pulling out the big guns for this one?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. If Marc Forster is still attached to direct and this news is correct, I wonder why he wouldn't use his usual DP? I believe he's worked with Roberto Schaefer on every one of his films to this point. Including the one that's wrapping up now, Machine Gun Preacher.

I strongly disagree. Forster is really the only good thing this flick has going for it at this point. He knows how to handle drama rather than just flashy images and action. When WWZ was first announced, I feared they would pick another music video director with flash but no talent. Thankfully Forster is still on board(as far as we know). That's a good thing, imo.

Let's not fly off the handle just because it may be rated PG-13. It is a departure for the Zombie genre but imo psychological horror can be much more effective than splatter effects. For instance, if they were able to bring the tension and dread of say, a movie like The Ring to the zombie genre it would be incredible. For my taste, I would choose an effective aura of dread over gratuitous eviscerations any day. That's why Romero's last few films have been so disappointing, no dread, no bleak post-apocalyptic feel. The zombies are treated as if they are comical nuisances; the flare scene in particular in Survival made my stomach turn.

A big budget, intelligent, expansive and faithful adaptation of the WWZ movie can be done without the splattered entrails; and if done correctly could break new ground in the genre.
But if they cast some dreamy-eyed queer with mousse in his hair as a lead zombie it’s over!

    Ugh,
I absolutely DESPISE movies like The Ring, The Grudge, etc. No, it's not that I "don't get them"...I get it, I just don't WANT it. Zombie movies are fine with the fundamentals we have. If someone tries to turn this into World War Silent Hill Z I'm gonna be pissed.

Except Silent Hill was most definitely Rated R
