    Tron trailer

    http://wdmp-7.vo.llnwd.net/d1/wdsmp/...0x532_720p.mov

Bit let down by the look of the 'Tron world'. Looks beautiful, but not computerfied. Just looks like the real world if you know what I mean. eg: look at the floors, they look like real floors with scuffs and the like. Or couches with stitching seems over it?

It's almost as it they need to post process it to make it more perfect/computery in some way, and less real-worldy.
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I think the look of the world itself is top notch. It's got this 'cool glass' look to it, and it makes sense anyway, compare videogame graphics of the early 1980s to what we've got these days.

The original movie is a bit hokey these days - the script, for example, is a bit silly with crow-barring in any and all computer jargon - and while the visuals of the film were utterly ground breaking at the time, and still cool, I'm really looking forward to see Tron Legacy in the cinema - I'll even stump up extra for 3D, as I'm sure all that Tron world stuff will look great in 3D and really up the ante for the light cycle chases.

It just seems wierd to have a poncy couch for example in a virtual world? Everything in the original was simple and stark, where as now, it just looks like a studio/set? Even the folks, look just like normal people, where as in the original they sort of had a phong shading quality...

Look at 1:54 onwards in the youtube clip. Someone in a virtual reality in a computer? Or just someone walking across a brightly lit set? Seems to clearly the latter..

Anyway, still looking forward to it...

i think thats meant to show some story hints, like the original tron world was built by programs and it all was just a cold giant machine world in essence, this looks like flynns taken over as the god of tron world or something and is redesigning it as he see's fit.

I realised when this trailer got released that I'd never seen the original. Watched it last night and was quite impressed.

Graphically, for the time, it still looks quite good.

As for the sequel... I can see what Neil is saying, how it looks more real world, but then at this point technology has improved. So it makes sense for the world to be more real looking as it is now possible to create real looking digital environments.

Love the MM easter egg in the original...

This new one looks okay to me, I like Hellsing's little theory as well.
Oblivion gallops closer, favoring the spur, sparing the rein - I think we will be gone soon

    Is that for real?

Still concerned about the look, ie: going for photo realism, instead of 'virtual look'... But we'll see

I went to see Alice in Wonderland the other night, and they had the trailer for Tron. The 3D wasn't over done in the trailer, it not terribly impressive or disappointing. Lets hope they can make it a decent flick (It doest have John
Sherridan in it for fucks sake
