Guess you relied on the anti-Bush talking points printed up before Gustav actually hit, and didn't get the news that New Orleans didn't flood this time. What a disappointment for the Netroots, who were ghoulishly hoping for lots more dead bodies to blame on Bush. Because Bush is to blame for everything.

oh im sorry, but he's the president of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and last i checked louisiana was part of that country. a town in the middle of kansas gets blown over by a tornado, bush sends aid and the town is REBUILT. new orleans has a hurricane hit twice and bush sends no aid whatsoever. so tell me again why he isnt to blame for help not being sent? who should we blame? teddy roosevelt?

New Orleans doesn't need Federal aid. It's not like the city got nuked over the weekend. They didn't get struck any harder by this storm than everyone else did. They can deal with it themselves.

The feds spent tens of billions of dollars on Katrina recovery, and are sure to spend billions more on recovery from Gustav (although not nearly as much, since the hurricane wasn't nearly as bad). New Orleans doesn't need Federal aid. That won't stop the feds from giving it. Politicians never pass up a good opportunity to hand out money.

Did New Orleans get hit hard this time? not really. However, a lot of New Orleans and the outer parishes are still not rebuilt, funny hows it been 3 years, yet most of IRAQ is already rebuilt and functioning.

As for it being rebuilt. Some of those houses were rent property. And rented by some very trashy people who fled, but never came back. We own 6 houses and remodeling them are very expensive. Image having to remodel 20 houses. Without any revenue coming in from rental property. Ouch!

A lot of the people who lived in New Orleans before Katrina have resettled in Baton Rouge, etc.

For a price of course they are a company. They never had any intention of rebuilding New Orleans. Isn't it obvious? Who is they? And why Can New Orleans rebuild itself like every other area that has damage? Oh right, its filled with a bunch of welfare losers who don't pay taxes, its an economic black hole. SO they have to rely on the government for aid, so they're getting pure government style aid... the same government some idiots want to run the healthcare system.
