I looked at the ratings of Lost yesterday, just out of curiosity to see how Walking Dead stacked up.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_%2...ies%29#Ratings

I guess it regularly had viewers in the 18 - 20 million range. If Walking Dead continues its slow rise with each finale, perhaps by the end of Season 5 we could expect Lost numbers? If ever? Even though the ratings of TWD aren't quite as strong, it definitely feels like the first show to capture the public's imagination in quite the same way

Sweet, so I was pretty close there.

I look forward to seeing the cumulative numbers.

I wish The Talking Dead would get shown in the UK, or at the very least put online for we non-American fans.

    Amazing.

    *happy dance*

    Sweet-arse news.

Wow, and Talking Dead got 5.1m? Blimey, that's a step-up for that show alright.

They're saying that with 'time shift' figures factored in that it could/should reach 20 million for the night!

Down as it always is for a 2nd episode. Next week should see a small rise or similar ratings.

And yet a million-and-a-half higher than the highest point for season three.

I think that's been said before, only to be shattered.

I don't understand people who only watch some episodes of shows like this - how do they follow what's going on? Do they not mind about missing huge events? So strange to me - for me it's all or nothing with shows like this ... and yet, it's the same with all shows, the biggest numbers are at the tail ends, and then in-between it's a rollercoaster.

    Renewed for a fifth season:
    http://dailydead.com/walking-dead-renewed-fifth-season/

Scott Gimple will return as showrunner.

We're still early on, but I have faith in Gimple, and clearly they also do, so this is good news.

This quote from that article is particularly awesome:

"This is a show that has erased traditional distinctions between cable and broadcast. Its expanding base of passionate fans has grown every season, most recently – and most notably – with the season four premiere earlier this month, which broke viewership records for the series and became the biggest non-sports telecast in cable history."

    13.3m.

So up a small amount. Looks like 13m is the core audience compared to roughly 10m this time last year. Thats incredible.

Hopefully such success will inspire Network TV to buck up their ideas and grow some balls - "Under the Dome" was watered down, dim-witted, paint-by-numbers, chock-full-o-filler bullshit; a total wasted opportunity ... Cable drama is routinely knocking Network drama for six.

There's quite a few shows on TV I really enjoy right now. Walking Dead obviously, and was also a Breaking Bad fan. New Sons of Anarchy has been great, it's been an awesome season of Boardwalk Empire, It's Always Sunny just ended a VERY strong season, South Park has been pretty good as well. Eastbound and Down is back with a vengeance, the new HBO show "Hello Ladies" is also pretty great. It's sad that TV is almost trumping cinema right now, although admittedly I rarely watch new movies.
