Watch the video on that page about the restoration process. Fascinating stuff.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Neil - you didn't know what "fap" meant?! Did you just sign up to Compuserve or AOL?

Saw this news yesterday - and the restoration featurette (fascinating stuff indeed! ) - totally gonna get this. I've only got Jaws on VHS (and it's pan & scan, naturally), so it'll be quite the upgrade for me. I wonder if all that talk a little while ago about 'Jaws will never be on Blu-Ray' was a way to stoke the fanboy flames to drum up interest for this ahead of time?

I'm sure the higher PQ will be great for you, but you're also going to love the making-of documentary that's being pulled over from the DVD release. I think it's over two hours long and one of the best making-of's i've seen. All the tiny details that nerds like us get excited about.

I've never heard this? They flat out stated that it would never happen?

One of my all time fav films. I love my DvD edition, though...not sure if this will be worth picking up. I guess it will depend on the quality of the re-master.

    Damn straight.

Actually I got it on VHS back in 2003 for a practical course I was doing at Uni - Television Studio Production - and we all had to make 15 minute magazine style shows. Anyway, at one point we had a segment about a Jaws fanatic, and we needed a clip, so I nabbed a copy on VHS dirt cheap out of HMV ... and that's the one I've had ever since. Looking forward to the Blu-Ray, mind you.

    Anyone picked it up yet?

Review of the Blu Ray: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Jaws-Blu-ray/7547/

It's damn near a perfect score! I plan on picking it up this weekend, but I just talked to a relative that has it and he says it's probably one of the best restorations he's ever seen. Up there with the early Bond films and the Alien Anthology. If you've seen those restorations, you know that's no small feat....

Got mine pre-ordered. Naturally, being in Britain, we have to wait a few weeks longer (goodness knows why they persist with these staggered releases of archive movies) ... anyway, aye, I've had mine pre-ordered for months now. Comes out here in like 3 weeks.

It's about that for us too and I can't wait. Looking forward to 'The Shark is Still Working'.
