Exclamation First an earthquake, now a hurricane!

So, I'm sure most of you know, the East Coast had an earthquake the other day. It was actually kinda scary for me because a lot of stuff in my apartment, including my expensive/large HDTV, was on the verge of falling over and breaking. Not only that but when I stood up to look outside to see if trees were being effected, it felt like our apartment was on rubber stilts and a giant was pushing it back and forth. As in, I couldn't walk a straight line. Cool experience all in all, though. Was blown away when I went on Facebook and saw people as far south as Virginia and as far north as Rhode Island posting about feeling it.

And now this weekend, we're due to be hit by a Category 2 hurricane! Not so sure how much I believe it, considering meteorologists are the only people that can be wrong 90% of the time and never lose their job. But, we shall see. I'm sure it has some of the religious types in the area all freaking out "God is sending us signs of the end of times!"

And here in Jersey, I actually didn't notice it as I was in a restuarant storeroom at work where everything was fairly secured in the first place - and we're right off a major highway.
That's the second quake to slip by me, the first (when my family lived in Turkey, and it was 4.0, I think ) I actually slept through.
Yes, I can sleep like The Dead.

I've never felt any of the tremors or 'quakes' we've had in the Northeast over the last few decades.

4.0? A baby could sleep through that.
I didn't feel anything, and I'm just south of the District. My sister did though. And my dad. *shrugs* Whatever. I'm sure I felt better ones when I was a tot in California...

Yeesh, talk about a wet firecracker. My yard isn't even all that messy from the wind. People are such pussies.

Pizz must be without power. Welcome to hurricane season. We are considering getting a generator that will power up the entire house. Maybe solar or natural gas powered.

That's what all the people who didn't get flooded out are saying. Flooding was quite bad in several areas and we're very lucky in the Northeast the winds died down as they did.

Yeah, apparently you didn't get the brunt of it, but we sure as hell did in Maryland (I live very close to the Chesapeake Bay, southeast of Baltimore) and we got the shit hammered out of us.

I've lived in this state for 40 years, and I've never seen rain and wind like that before. Lost power for 2 days, thank god my generator was able to keep the refrigerators a few fans and one tv on. Neighbor lost a 100+ year old oak tree that literally just blew out of the ground - pulled up the root ball and everything (which happened to be taller than me, and I'm 5'11"). The hole was big enough that if I jumped in, it'd be over my head, and it filled up with water in a matter of minutes.

But that's ok, I'm just a pussy. I'm sure it was nothing. I mean, the average breeze around here can pull up 100+ year old oak trees, roots and all, with no problem whatsoever.
