    Who do you identify with?

A friend and I were discussing the movies and the question was asked about who I identified with the most from the four. It actually became quite involved as other people heard what we were talking about. (I mean who actually pays attention in microbiology anyway?)

So I was curious. And you know what they said about curiousity.

It's going to have to be Riley on this one, even though John is my favourite amongst them.

Riley realizes that people are assholes and that everything is not in black-and-white. He cares for others, but can get really ****ed off if he sees someone slacking or doing something that is inhumanly selfish.

I said Barbara, which is true enough, but I also identify with "Pretty Boy", she did her job and she was good at it. And sometimes Pillsberry, because he also is a no nonsense type.

There shoudl have been more options.....I know. We had mainly been talking main characters. Part of the problem is that so many of the characters from the movies are memorable. IMO they're ensemble casts. And I forgot to include Bub or Big Daddy. Doh!

Was she a main character? I mean I guess she was. But I didn't get any emotional attachment to her. Roger and Peter I loved and Stephen I loathed....but Fran was just kinda there. But that's just me.

    I liked John's outlook:

Cant be bothered to deal with other people's bull****, not impressed by people's chest-thumping, happy to sit back and watch and learn people's characters, loyalty to friends, big picture views....and so on...

    Sorry.

She was pretty in a damsel-in-distress kind of way. But she wasn't even trying to survive in the beginning. It really doesn't take much to at least try and defend yourself. She was a little better by the end...

Do I buy into the recent junk of Hollywood uber female fighters? (Aeon Flux, Ultraviolet, Res Evil 2)? Nope. But I do think that I'd fight like a banshee to survive even if I didn't have my background.

Fran just waited to be saved. So I was a bit disappointed in her.

Fran I thought was feeling very hopeless. Like illustrated in the scene in the television. Deppressed people like that who just think all negative are very annoying if you ask me, and that's how Fran was to me. Leave the TV on bitch, and keep hoping!

I said Roger. At first he seems to be alright with the situation, but after living with it for a certain amount of time he starts to lose it upstairs and comes to enjoy the situation because of his arrogance. I think I could see that happening with me.

Despite what people might think of Riley as a character, I think he had the best outlook of how to survive in a post-apocalyptic zombie world. Just let me find a quiet, deserted region to spend the rest of my days and leave me the hell alone. Meaning to both zombies and people in general. Though I would make sure I took Asia Argento with me.
