Death Race 2000 remake trailer...

Anybody seen this? The movie looks like complete garbage. Actually it looks like they are just making The Fast & The Furious 4 (or whatever) but with guns added into the element. NO THANKS, HOLLYWOOD.

The first movie - or ORIGINAL movie, rather - was trashy, but full of piss and vinegar. It had attitude, and came along before you had movies where you really saw that kinda craziness.

A Hollywood remake will just pretty it all up, put some TV stars looking to up their pay grade into it, and just generally sap all fun and originality out of the proper Death Race 2000 and then sh*t it out on the floor.

As for the trailer - could it be any more like every other generic trailer that's out there? I mean seriously, it's modern day text book trailer making - i.e. boring and predictable with silly little quips chucked in here and there, some popular music tossed in that has a vague relation to some plot elements and there you go.

Also - where the f*ck is mention of people getting run over, aside from the one criminal at the end which is the only allusion to that element?

It just looks heartless and way too overblown, and the inclusion of the whole Mustang "bit" just screams product placement ... I mean, it can work, but it just seems naff most of the time when it's done.

Generally, it doesn't look like a dangerous race, it doesn't look controversial, it doesn't look ... interesting ... to be honest.

Give me the original any day, even though I've only seen it once come to think of it, but I must dig it out and watch it again.

The original wasn't amazing or perfect, but it had some heart and soul and some fire in it's belly...this remake just looks like a bog standard Hollywood splodge of sanitised sameness.
