I love him. He can take on hordes of bandits in my game.

Argh. Why did I buy this game? I bloody hate RPGS...I just got bored...OK it looks great but where's the bloody action? Walk here, talk to this person, deliver letter, walk back....argh...boring as hell....still waiting for this game to be fun but I never get enough time to play it so it's hard to follow it through, so all I seem to do is turn on the xbox, start the game, deliver letter, walk back across the map, save it, turn off...start again later...crap.

I think part of the point in RPGs is time-investment, it's not a genre geared towards short stints unfortunately.

yeah I just have to find the time and effort to go through it...I kinda prefer my games fast and furious...last RPG I played was Fable 1....and that wasn't indepth enough to really lose yourself in...this game feels so huge, it's daunting...

Bring on left 4 dead! haha

Im pretty much with symphonic on this one, i bought fallout 3 after hearing nothing but good about it, but im really struggling to get into it.. it feels too hard right at the beginning aswell, my personal gripe, like almost the first quest you have to do is go to the radio station place, but i keep getting killed every fight i come across.. your weapons do virtually nothing to enemies, most of which are grossly overpowered and your health recovery is seriously and unfairly flawed, most health products dont recover **** and the ones which do are very few and far between.

Sorry guys but im finding this game very difficult to get into, maybe im missing something or ive bypassed something?

im at 14 hours in and ive just done the radio station biit, but i found his dad a different way so ive already encountered super mutants adn the enclave and the brotherhood of steel and whatnot and yeah, i had to turn down the difficulty in the options as it does take the piss a little bit.

plus its glitchy, i had to escort a main character out fo a series of tunnels and she stopped in the second area and wouldn't move, so i had to reset and lose an hours worth of gameplay.

22 hours in, i finished it and im not happy.

i started getting into the swing of things oblivion style and decided to continue with the plot missions, 3 hours later and a grand total of an ABSOLUTELY EPIC 17 total missions, 8 of which being the plot.

sure thats short but why am i pissed?

because after its done. its done. nothing like oblivion were you can play the game afterwards and experience the changes you've made, you get 60 seconds of ron pearlmans epic voiceover adn thats it, finito, the last autosave is the boss and my last save was 3 hours ago and 8 levels back. so i think im trading this bitch in for gears 2.

But then again, there's a variety of games like that that are free-roam, but have a definite length to the story and that's it - such as STALKER. You finish the story, you finish the game, it's not GTA.

Does sound a bit short, but it's probably an issue of the amount of data you can squeeze onto a disc - with the world being so huge, that'll limit the amount of missions - it was the same thing with COD4, with all the epic set pieces and levels, they had to sacrifice some length.

I'll be looking to get this for PC, cos they'll patch the arse out of it I'm sure.

You always seem to be unhappy with games, Dead Space was a let down for you, now Fallout 3 has you all pissed off, I dare not think what you'll say about Gears of War 2.

id say its this gens metal gear solid of action shooters, no load times, just a momentary fade to black, great levels, fantastic sound, better plot and voice acting than the last and it just feels like this is what halo 3 should have been.

yes, i love it that much. -DUN-DUN-DUNNN!!!!

Ive not played fallout but i know where your coming from,i like a bit less chit chat & a bit more action in my games!i like a good plot, but i get very bored when you have to get through hours of largely pointless conversations with NPC's in a game. The only RPG i ever truly loved was final fantasy 7!
Far cry 2 almost borders on RPG as far as chatting to characters goes & the huge game world, but its only done in a very basic way & the bulk of the game is tearing around in jeeps, blowing stuff up,setting fire to things & shooting at folk.I dont know how people have the patience with the majority of RPG's to be honest!

You can fast travel, using your map, if you don't feel like walking.

Andy, don't jump right into it. That's the beauty of this game. You don't HAVE to follow the story line. Talk to other people, do other side-quests. Level up a bunch. I didn't go to GNR Radio until I was like a level 10 and by that point Super Mutants are actually really FUN to fight.

Since Hells says there's nothing to do once you're done the story, I think I'm going to hurry up and finish it so I can trade it in while it's still worth a decent amount of money (and get Left 4 Dead).

to be honest i think that after the freedom of choice offered by mass effect fallout just pales in comparison in every way but the exploration element, sure me had long load times, but it never crashed on me, losing hours of my life.

Actually, after looking at your achievements I'm seeing that you didn't do a TON of quests, so I guess I'm not going to try to hurry up and finish the game. I plan on doing every quest possible, so I'd say I've got at least 30-40 more hours of life to put into the game.
