I too was surprised by Madagascar. Has a good deal of adult jokes to keep it interesting. Thinking about going to see the second one.

All this Tarantino talk reminded me that he's in the middle of filming "Inglorious Basterds". Sounds like it will be interesting. Tarantino WWII, Brad Pitt, Sam Jackson Narrating, Mike Meyers, and Cloris Leachman.

    Weird...

Indeed, bring on IB ... and never again with the gap between projects like there was between Jackie Brown and Kill Bill, that was too damn long without any new Tarantino.

I heard the other day about Pitt, which was cool IMO. After Fight Club & Jessie James he's ok in my book. Now the rest of that cast...

I would have to pretty much agree with your opinions on Quantum of Solace. Not as good as Casino Royale, but still a good Bond outing.

The ending seemed a bit weak compared to the hard "f*ck yeah!" ending that Royale has, but I guess it was okay for the middle of the trilogy. Kinda ends off like Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, BTTF 2, etc where you know there's more coming.

I feel like Marc Forster could have made a much more emotionally driven film but was forced to work more with action sequences instead. He's already said he highly doubts he'll return for the third film, so hopefully they'll get someone that can really tie it all up and make it a good, solid trilogy.(I'm still hoping for Campbell's return)

Good, free up that man's schedule to get things started on World War Z!

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

I've recently been home sick with strep throat, so I purchased both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace for the ol' Blu Ray and thought I would give them a back-to-back viewing. My opinion still stands that QOS isn't as good as CR, but let's not kid ourselves and admit that it never could be. But seeing it pretty much tied in with CR was AWESOME!

I have to raise my original rating for the film. It's a great sequel and pretty much the only straight-forward bond sequel ever. I definitely think now that once the third film is done, people will look at this "Bond Begins" trilogy as one hell of story.

QOS is a perfect tie in to the story set up in CR. Let's hope they really bring it home with the third film.

For me Casino Royale wins on the script and directing/photography front.

That's not to say QOS was a bad film, but I (as I've said before) feel the camera work in it was diabolical, and helped spoil some appreciated of the action sequences. They ended up feeling messy and hard to follow... Case in hand, look at the building site chase in CR... Beautifully scripted and filmed and hands above anything QOS tried...
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
