    A really good read, thanks.

Here's hoping that Don can do his magic on a Blu-ray version soon.

Very nice. I always wondered about that "freeze" on the Millennium Edition. I didn't splurge on the 40th because Millennium was still considered the "best", but now I wonder...

Makes me crazy to think there's an even better still version possible....

OK I understand about the freezes between shots, especially in the early part of the movie, but does everyone else have a glitch when the dead are heading towards the truck to get a bite to eat after it exploded? Where is the new one cropped, on all sides?

You are referring to the DVD layer break, nothing can be done about that.

The new one is cropped on all sides in some but not all shots.

Please update us when it is posted. I interviewed Roy Frunkes about two years ago and he was raving about the quality of the HD transfer of Document. I have been salivating in anticipation since.

You don't happen to know (or have an inclination) if that will be included as an extra on another DVD release, or if it will be receiving it's own exclusive release, Axlish?

I'm thinking it will get its own release from Synapse.

    Yup...

The Definitive Document of the Dead is on its way from Synapse. At present, Don May doesn't have a release date, but it sounds like its coming along nicely. Roy Frumkes is including behind-the-scenes footage from LAND, DIARY, and the new one. Possibly NIGHT 90, I seem to remember hearing, but I may be wrong. Whatever the case, it should be something special.

    Cheers, RJ!

I've read suggestions that the selective cropping in the new NOTLD transfer was implemented in order to conceal boom mic shadows and the like...

Regardless, I didn't even notice it when watching the movie.

The new transfer was used for the UK Optimum blu ray release and looks fantastic. I believe its region encoded B, however, so won't play in US players. I'm sure a Dimension blu ray release is on the cards.

As for DOCUMENT, I spoke to Frumkes at the Festival of Fear back in late 2007 and he said he was still shooting material for the ultimate version. He also told me via e-mail that he did do some filming during the NIGHT remake so it would be great to see that finally make an appearance. Must be some project!

Thanks RJ. Very cool interview, and it clarified some questions I always had, especially regarding the weird, almost imperceptible but annoying freezes. You Rule!

Thanks for the heads up, RJ Sevin. I'll definitely give it a read this evening (when not at work). The first part was excellent, so I'm sure this one will have a lot of worthwhile info.
