a school in texas is being accused of putting students into a steel cage with one another to "settle their differences." this sounds like bullshit and it will be interesting to see what, if anything, an investigation uncovers. though this same school was just busted in a grade fixing scandal that led to their being stripped of two basketball titles. i guess if you are willing to cheat academically to win something as inherently worthless as a basketball game, staging cage matches isn't that big of a stretch. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7954902.stm

It really is the safest way to go. People are going to fight, whether anyone likes it or not. Doing it in a controlled, regulated environment is better than, say, an unsupervised, 6-on-1 jumping out in the parking lot where someone gets beat into a coma.
