Friends, this is shaping up to be a legendary festival! You should take it on the road or something... just bring some of the deadness to the UK!

I would love to take this on tour it probably will some day. But what is going to happen in Evans City this fall is "the shit" the real down dirty deal. If only 50 people show up we will still make history with our guests alone. I thought I would stop at 12 guests, more and it starts getting crowed with less face time. I don't know you tell me. Don't forget we have lots of years to come.
I do agree we need to come to the UK. Perhaps that's it we will do a different country every year I love that thought.

Gary, I guarantee there will be more than 50 people at your festival. If I had the time and the money I'd be there in a shot - damn the timespace continuum for always getting in my way! Also, I really think an eventual UK meet would go down a storm; if you take this forum as a cross-section of the Dead community, almost half of us are UK based, and these islands are small so it'd be a lot easier for all the British fans to get to a UK fest than for the all the US fans to get to the Evans City fest.... if that makes sense.

Where could we have it? Would GLASTONBURY be appropriate?

I know at least five people local to me who would be onboard. Add a third of the British members who post here and at other forums, plus word of mouth stragglers, I think there could be room for a good couple of hundred.

Glasgow would be nice because it looks a lot like Pittsburgh and I'm lazy

On a serious note, though, Glastonbury would would definitely be a weirdly cool place to hold it! I totally would never have thought of that - it's a tiny village, very out-of-the-way and only really comes alive at Festival time - but in terms of atmosphere and strangeness appeal, it would be awesome! Also, the countryside around there (and a lot of England/Southern Scotland) is very green with rolling hills, scattered with trees, so atmospherically quite similar to the PA countryside of Night. Great idea!

Failing that, I'd suggest somewhere in the geographical heart of Britain, around the Birmingham/Leeds/Manchester area, so you'd achieve the optimal accessibility for fans throughout the country.

I once shot a Mike Scott Waterboys video out there and was a bit spooky and I loved that. But i see what your saying about being a bit far out there. I want to come to London I haven't been there in many years.

No it was for his song Glastonbury Song and I'm not sure it ever saw the light of day. Mike for some didn't like it and didn't let it get released. I'll bring my copy over when we do the show for you to see. Mike is a very talented but strange man. He fit right in in Glastonbury. Ah the good old days when people would pay me to travel around the world.

Gary, I just thought of a great excuse to hold the fest in Glasgow. In the city here we have a fantastic old-fashioned art-deco cinema called the Glasgow Film Theatre. The building, inside, is absolutely exquisite, totally captures that mid-20th century feel. It's an upmarket but down-to-earth picture house (with very cheap rates) that specialises in art, rare, obscure, foreign and cult cinema. Recently I was there at a double bill of Macabre and Cut and Run with both Lamberto Bava and Ruggero Deodato in attendance for QAs and signings, and it was sold out, and not long before that I was at a showing of Lucio Fulci's Zombie there, with some of the cast. Even for these obscure films and little-known directors and actors, the turnout was incredible, with fans travelling both from around the local area and the wider UK to attend; I can only imagine the turnout for something as huge as Night of the Living Dead with cast and crew members would be at least as great, probably bigger.

The cinema also has a small sit-in cafe/restaurant which also serves food and drink for cinemagoers (you can actually take glasses of beer/wine/whatever into the theatre with you), and the location is right in the centre of the city, near fantastic transport links and affordable hotels, etc. The venue can also be hired for private functions.

I know a UK fest is still a long shot, but this place is definitely something to consider: http://www.gft.org.uk/content/
