aside from being set in a town and having a psychological aspect there nothing alike. Silent hill is a gory, oppressive nightmare that looks like a guy lost in a foggy town. Wake is, by all accounts more x files and twin peaks than silent hill.

which is partially why i flipped my shit over this. that and the max payne connection.

While I've not yet seen Twin Peaks, it's my kinda vibe - and of course as a massive X-Files fan, I'm rather looking forward to seeing if the vibe feels like the first five seasons of that super-awesome show.

Tricky - the reviews should give a good overview of the game itself, there's also a two-part "All Your History" feature on YouTube for Alan Wake (there's one in-the-works for Red Dead Redemption too - gives a great overview of a game and the companies involved and the prior releases etc ... seems to be a new thing that IGN, or Machinima ... one of them ... does when a big new release is about to launch).

Either way, like it's been said, it may eventually end up on PC, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll get it for the 360, and if it knocks my socks off, I'll get it for my PC if it comes out for it.

I think it will come to PC eventually, they'll wait to see what kind of reviews it gets & how well it sells, then make it available for PC if they know they'll make some coin back on it, hopefully anyway!

I only wish there was an easier way to control the damn pc game versions. I just could never warm up to the mouse/keyboard thing. You guys get alot of cool stuff, mods in particular.

Its a bit like playing guitar, once you get used to it you wonder why it was hard before I couldnt be without my mouse/keyboard combo now, especially in games like Arma 2 which utilise the entire keyboard, giving you much more interactivity in games! Mods are what makes PC gaming too, again referring to Arma 2, it has a ridiculous amount of brilliant mods available which have been mostly made by the community rather than the manufacturer, sound mods, extra units & vehicles, new maps, complete overhauls, new missions etc, its good that they left the code open for people to play with as a lot of the other firms like EA & infinity ward dont let you do that

A lot of PC games do allow you to play with a controller - indeed, an Xbox360 controller.

Is it me, or do I use "indeed" an awful lot?

I sure hope so. Problem is, games like Dead Rising, which I thought for sure would end up on a PC, never did.

    MZ - Indeed you do.

Oh! Seem to suggest it's fairly mediocre!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Looks like Remedy didn't pad eurogamer's pockets enough for the 9/10.

Reviews are ranging between and including 7 and 9 out of 10 scores. I think it'll come down to personal taste and response, as well as be predicated by expectation after such a long development cycle ... and also how cynical the gamers will be.

Furthermore, fans of the genre are, of course, going to think mor highly of it than someone who is not.

However, fan or not, a good game is still a good game.
